I peeped that as well and tbh I think that part was a bit of a reach by the writers. I could see the Don Eladio prepping with a body double but Lalo? He's basically a captain or under boss at best.
Having said that I thought the episode was very strong. Nacho is upgrading his survival skills evert minute.
The whole scenario was pointless anyway because Gus Fring realized Lalo was still alive by the end of the episode.

i think it’s believable in the world of the show
Lalo is most capable, cunning and patient of the Salamsnca clan. He just as cold blooded as his cousin but more charming and calculating.
Man these motherfuckers might to do a prequel to a prequel on Hector and the family

Lots of good tension in Nacho's scenes.
Lalo is easily one of the best villains on TV. Cold blooded, as others have noted.
Like how the series sometimes feels like 2 shows rolled up into one. The lighter-hearted stuff, mixed with the more serious / deadly consequences.
Enjoyed some of the visual similarities to the "One Minute" episode from season 3 of Breaking Bad with the twins and Hank ... and here in Saul with the twins & Nacho. I was gonna say "visual callbacks" to Breaking Bad but then remembered this is a prequel, haha.
Going to be interesting to see how many scenes we get of "Gene" this season. Either in part 1 or 2 of the season.

I was listening to some of the recap podcasts last night, and they were noting they were impressed by how the writers are showing Kim "breaking bad" in a way to start off this final season. How she's encouraging Jimmy to lean into his "Saul Goodman" persona. It would have been easier & more predictable for Gilligan, Gould, and company to have her start to distance herself as he further veered to the darkside. But she's clearly a willing participant at this point and is not oblivious to what they're up to.
Hell, it would have been interesting to see her around during Breaking Bad's run. To see what type of shady business she got up to with Saul, and the characters they interacted with during the Breaking Bad timeline post-Better Call Saul.

I’m curious to see how much she was invested in the shenanigans that Saul was a part of with Walt/Jesse/Gus.
If she was around was she truly ok with the really shady things he was involved in-like the bombing of the nursing home in breaking bad.
Agreed. Just how far deep was she implicated. Gonna be interesting to see how much of Walt and Jesse they include in this final season. Probably quite brief. As one podcaster noted, they really need to stick the landing with the Saul / Gene storylines. Seeing as BCS and BB are such great series respectively, and you don’t want to tarnish the legacy of BB for fans with a lukewarm prequel finale for Saul (but more importantly the look-ahead at Gene’s continued life post-Breaking Bad).
It’s all quite interesting. Respect to the cast and crew for great years of TV from 2008 - 2022!!
