When yall play Quordle and Octordle, if you see some words after
the first word choices. Do yall hold out to get all of the letters
eliminated or do yall solve the word immediately and try to eliminate
the letters later?

Question for the Wordle family.
When yall play Quordle and Octordle, if you see some words after
the first word choices. Do yall hold out to get all of the letters
eliminated or do yall solve the word immediately and try to eliminate
the letters later?
I try to solve the word with the most letters more often than not. It's a double-edged sword though when there are many words that are one letter apart from the same spelling.

I end up burning through two or three selections chasing the correct word so that I can move on. If there is a similar panel, then I'll try to alternate my guesses, but I also use a notepad to jot shit down in an attempt to minimize the chances that I waste.
I don't think that I've gotten all eight in under 10 guesses but once or twice though.

If I see some words or a word and I'm sure it's the right one, I solve the word immediately.
By doing that, I get to see how the letters in that word play out in the other words (greyed out, gold or green).

You been taking an open book test?
I start with the same 2 words everyday , and then I look at all 4/8 words and choose the one I believe I'm the closest to solving. I'd estimate that I'm able to solve a word on guess 3, 80% of the time, if not by guess 4 95% of the time. Then, the next word that I'm closest to solving. Rinse, repeat.

I use a different word each time. However, OPIUM gets play from time to time.

For Wordle, it changes. I usually go with the first word that pops into my mind. Today I used TRAIL, it was the first time I have used it. Yesterday I used SCORE, tomorrow, who knows what I'll think of.
For Quordle/Octordle I always start with ROAST then NICHE. I don't even look at the board until after I've typed those.
This is a very personal question, this akin to asking a woman their age.
