Man if I remember correctly many people said it was a horrible idea for as timing. That invasion should’ve happened sooner if Russian wanted to avoid the muddy areas once the snow and ice melted.

I've heard this as well. In fact when the Afghanistan war was raging, there was much talk of a "fighting season" for this as well as other issues.

I am pretty sure there are a small minority of Nazis, but you don't see Russia using the grand children of a Holocaust survivor as a front to get widespread Western support. Russia suffered losses at the hands of German Nazis so being one and Russia is an irony.
