NYC Mayor Adams: Filming Police Has ‘Gotten Out of Control,' Must Be Done ‘Properly'

If you have nothing to hide then there should be no problem.

You'd think with all the law suits due to police handling that one more camera on the scene of the boys in blue doing their job "properly" there should be no problem.

More likely it the reverse and city's being taking to the cleaners because of the damaging photage.

I’m a huge fan of 1st Amendment Auditors because it’s a beautiful thing to watch these tyrants get out in their place. Like many of you have already stated, it’s funny that the issue is filming the police but not the actions of the police. It’s the 1st Amendment, mayor Dick Head! Holding public officials accountable! This ain’t Russia or any other place where you get to control(kill) the people if you don’t like what they say to you or about you.

Police officers are some of the most pussy people hiding behind badges.

This was they best NYC could do?? :smh::smh:

so the police and the payouts for police brutality cases aren't out of control, but filming police is.

New York just goes from one bozo mayor to another.

I agree w him and I think some of these 1st amendment auditors deliberately try to antagonize cops.

However, even more out of control is the amount daily police misconduct happening that causes people to quickly reach for their phones.

This is not in NY but is a standard police interaction where the cop lies, threatens someone w arrest and falsely tries to get personal info.

And this is actually standard police work. This is one of the “good” officers. And the people he stopped don’t appear to be criminals.

Maybe he needs to address the culture of criminal policing which is the cause rather than the effect.

Carry on……

Some of US here in NYC told Y'all.

Doesn't matter if it's Adams in NYC
"Big Dick" Lightfoot in Chicago
London Breed in San Francisco
ETC...

They are protecting the Bottom Lines of their cities...
Property Owners, Businesses, Law Enforcement and most of all... WHITE folks,
At what is primarily OUR Expense.

But WE really have to be honest about our communities also.
Some of US are really Fuckin' Up.
But that's pretty much due to a whole variety of factors.
And WE know what some of them are.

Ain’t no agreement with him here. If doing a lawful activity is antagonistic to the police then they should find another line of work. Police are sworn to uphold the constitution. That means free speech against them and recording them while they’re serving the public. As long as the auditors are not physically interfering then it’s free game. If they can’t handle that then they can go find another line of work. Lol

I agree with you 100% with them cracking down on the corrupt policing in this country. Harassing citizens just because they have a badge. Many citizens don’t know their rights so they don’t know any better, plus the fear of a arrest. When people really start knowing their rights and exercising them is when things will really start to change. Suing these assholes and getting rid of qualified immunity will teach these bastards.

1st amendment audits opened my eyes to how many citizens, public servants and law enforcement don't know the rights or laws of this country.

All of this, especially the bolded.

Most auditors never say a single word to anyone while they record. The police just don't want their lies and bullshit methods to be revealed to the public. They'll cite officer safety as an attempt to get the auditor to move away, but the supreme court has already ruled in favor of citizens recording from a set amount of feet. They be wanting you to be damn near down the block. FOH.

What rights do you have when a corrupt cop wants to arrest you? The laws are stacked against us, you can fight the charge but not the ride.

At no point did he say not to record officers. He said that he wants people to record from a safe distance. Give people their personal space especially when they are in a dangerous or violent situation. How is that hard to understand?
If a cop is having an physical altercation with someone. Maybe stand 7 feet away and record instead of standing right over them. If I'm fighting someone and a stranger creeps up behind me they're catching hands. Some people get right on top of the offers and instigate while the incident is happening. Others take the opportunity to attack officers from behind because their guard is down.

The problem with what you’re saying is it’s subjective to the cop.

As long as someone isn’t physically interfering then there is no issue.

This is a constitutional right to record public employees during the course of their job.

Physically interfering with law enforcement is already a crime.

Is it illegal for me to record you from less than 2 feet away until I'm content?

Citizens maybe, but the LEO are well aware of the laws. It’s always better to say you didn’t know the law, than to say you disregarded it.

If you see the vid I posted, do you really think that an officer doesn’t know simple ID laws.

Watch the vid and tell me if you were that wrong about simple procedures at your job if you would still be employed.

Police officers, lawyers, used car salesman and politicians. Be dishonest, deceitful, lie w impunity and get a promotion.

After watching a few years worth of audit videos I have to disagree with law enforcement knowing the laws.

I definitely believe and have seen videos of officers not knowing I’d laws and arresting people for them, which resulted in civil right violation law suits.

Amagrassett Press is the most recent auditor I can think of that has a civil suit against the police and city.

I believe most cops feel they can do whatever because most people don’t know their rights.
