Talked to the financial advisor on the follow-up call earlier this past week, and as discussed previously, he invested the $8500 RRSP contribution that was sitting in cash to the existing & maturing GIC in the portfolio. Combined it came to just under $27,600.
Did my taxes yesterday using Wealth Simple. It was interesting watching the numbers on the side column. Initial refund was to be for only $43.
Then I processed the $8500 RRSP contribution and it jumped to a $2440 refund.
Then added in some of my T5s (Statement of Investment Income) on some of the other GICs and savings outside of the tax-sheltered RRSP portfolio.
Dropped the expected tax refund down to $1944 which should be auto-deposited in a week or two. Last year's refund was nearly the same. Also contributed $8500 at that time. Whereas a handful of years before I only added in 2000 - 3000 some years.
As noted earlier in the thread ... probably just use that to put towards re-investing, or paying off upcoming bills like car insurance (May) & home insurance (June).
