It's a lack of respect for basketball history. Pulling a John Stark used to be a well know adjective of what not to do in a Game 7. But younger fans don't even know the name now.
Younger fans don't seem to recall that Pat spent any time in NY. They know he coached Showtime and that he's the Heats GM. That whole chapter of life with the Knicks gets glossed over.
I used to give Pat a hard time as well. But the reality is those teams were poorly constructed. He was never surrounded with another legit allbsyar level player. Just stiffs, goons, and role players.
