I had to go back and watch this match because I don't watch SmackDown and was surprised by how good it was. They actually gave Naomi and Charlotte time to tell a story. The finish was a little awkward but it was very solid. As far as Charlotte/Ronda they're just doing that to sell tickets. The match will probably suck but they don't care. As long as it puts people in seats that's all that matters.

Question here for everyone.

Who were y'all favorite wrestlers as a kid? Did anyone have an odd unusual wrestler they were fans of?

My faves were Hogan, Macho Man, Sting, Warrior.

My one odd fave was Barry Windham. That superplex and vaulting over for the pin was cool looking.
I'm a Homer for Memphis Mid South wrestling. I was fan of all that came through. Jimmy Hart kept a rotation of mufuccas in his First Family faction the came in an fought the hometown hero Jerry Lawler. I would say Jerry is my favorite because he made most of the big time wrestlers famous But never held A WWE title.

Like it or not, Charlotte vs. Rhonda is a bigger draw than with Naomi.
Looks like Naomi is getting a bit of a push now tagging with Rhonda at Elimination Chamber.
Hopefully she doesn't get forgotten about as soon as its over. She's pretty much the female Kofi Kingston.

I watched Smackdown on fast-forward last night, but I watched that from start to finish. Naomi can go in the ring. And is crazy over. The problem is, with Becky, Charlotte, Sasha, and Bayley to extent, they only know one way to book a female champion. They seem to just fumble faces as champions, and even worse when the champion is female.

But they have who they have to carry the weekly shows, and have who they want to use for ppvs. It's like they have this booking algorithm.

The Garvin Stomp was the shit back in the day

Here it is. I remember this match like it was yesterday. NWA had a 1 hour show that use to air on Friday nights called "World Wide Wrestling". Here in Saint Louis it would come on KPLR channel 11 at 11:00PM. A lot of times they would just air one match usually a championship match and have it go close to the whole hour.

smackdown was literally saved by Naomi and Charlotte. As someone said, they let her perform and it was great. I honestly thought it was gonna be a squash match because as we all knoW, nobody else matters except the”4 horsewomen”. Naomi is clearly not just a pretty face with a great body. I was actually watching her moves and she is GOOD. I’m glad because I still don’t get the beef between her and Sonya. It’s a dumb feud. Anyone know the status of Alexa?Wondeting when she will actually compete and I hope she keeps her gimmick and bray’s queen. She’s the only thing worth tuning in for raw other than the ocasional Brock appearance. Same as with Smackdown although if they let Naomi keep doin her thing I’ll watch.

That was part of Randy Orton's moveset for awhile.

Remember Cornette throwing a fireball in Garvin's face back in the day. The Midnight Express was the heels back then that I couldn't stand on 1 hand but also kind of liked because they did cool moves.
I also liked Sting ,Hogan ,The Steiners ,Ultimate Warrior, Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat

Cornette talked about this years back on his podcast. He said he got death threats for throwing that fireball in Garvin's face. Said it was Dusty Rhodes's idea. Apparently Cornette was getting married so he needed some time off. After he threw the fireball they suspended him as a way to get him off of TV.

LOL, all those Memphis guys loved using fireballs back in the day. I remember "Hot Stuff" Eddie Gilbert would use fireballs all the time.

I think Alexa will go back to her old character and drop the "fiend" gimmick. I guess that's the point of these vignettes with her and the "psychiatrist".

Yeah I remember him telling the story. The thing that I like most about that moment is how it tied into being just a moment. It was used to get Cornette off TV, extend a feud/freshen up a feud and turn a hated heel,Jimmy Garvin, to being a full fledged face in a realistic way

They use to call him the hands of stone Ronnie Garvin. I remember watching him late on a friday night back in '87 beat Ric Flair for the NWA World Championship. He would lose it back to Flair three months later at Starrcade 87.
Was there when he beat Flair for the title in Detroit with my grandfather, boy the memories of back in the day wrestling.

Ya know.........it's crazy. Like you don't value a performer. You don't use him or accept his ideas for things he could do to make himself an asset. But rather than release him and let him find a career for himself, you'd rather hold him in a contract and let him just sit. Why?
Jim Ross says there are two people Vince McMahon the business man and Mr. McMahon the petty MF

One of my best memories is from the late-80s or so. My aunt (passed 10 years ago) took my cousin and I to one of the big events when they were in Vancouver. She never followed it, but got us floor seats! Saw all the action up close as a kid, and cousin was 4 yrs older. Great memory. Had to have been around 1987 - 1990 or so.
