I'd need to know the date of that broadcast, because what she said was basically true for the first variant. It was 90%+ effective against infection. It was the variants that brought the effectiveness down against infection and they were still effective to stop folk from dying.
How many times have you heard the same idiots on here say "both the vaccinated and unvaccinated are getting sick" despite this being true for the City since we started the vaccine rollout.

Basically. If people had high enough vaccination numbers early on and everyone (especially the unvaccinated) had continued to protect themselves with distancing and common sense, we would have beat this thing a year ago. But when they stated it was safe for vaccinated people to unmask after the initial rollout with no enforceable constraints on the unvaccinated, all that happened was that the un-vax'd came out with no protection and just blended into the fold like they had their shots.
Next thing, you know, we had variants. And the narrative keeps shifting from the benefits of being vaccinated to some kind of rebuke of the vaccine that the public refuses to properly utilize. But I wouldn't expect much more from a society that literally had to be told to wash their hands in a pandemic (and still didn't fucking do it).

It's not about support. Early in the thread there were some people who seemed to think that Neil doing what he did and Spotify doing what they did wouldn't hurt Spotify and would hurt Neil's money.
As many have pointed out, and as Spotify has found out, it ain't that simple, and that old man isn't hurting for money...and Joe Rogan can be a bit of a problem for them, so they needed to do some serious PR, cause their money can get hurt by this wayyyy easier than his can.
