In the event that republican legislatures rig the next presidential election, and refuse to admit defeat (assuming that they are defeated)...

how likely is the military to split, with some deciding to follow right wing generals, loyal to tRump, and the others siding with generals loyal to the duly elected potus?

Do you think we could be headed for a real, shooting civil war?

In a coup, the deciding factor is generally, if not always, which side the military supports.

Don't think you understand that aspect of military.
Doesn't matter who's in office, you have to follow the Commander in Chief whether you like it or not.

There are things the military holds to a standard and one is the Constitution and other is to protect the people.

Any officer going against the grain and try to do a coup is committing treason which can be punishable by death.

I pray this never happens, but never a split but a few nutso factions yes! :smh:

Trust the higherups who give a fuck are already implementing screening of the ranks, and monitoring of
anything that looks like that type of behavior.

Unfortunately over the last 5 years a few of them have burrowed into powerful positions, so we'll just have to have faith that
they will be monitored well by those who serve the constitution not a cult.

This.

We were taught from day one, it doesnt matter if you like the order, it is not your job to wuestion, its your job to do. People take chain of command very seriously.
Plenty of active duty cacs that are radicalized trump supporters. Just like vets were at the Jan 6th insurrection. I put nothing past these pathetic, hateful cacs. They never surprise me.
Bro, to be honest, most cats in the service are just trying to live and come up. Most are just regular ass people who turned to the military for some reason related to money. At 5pm, we go home and chill like everyone else.

Those "radicalized Trump supporters" are the minority and would get stomped by the mps before anything really got going.

At this point, we cannot sleep on these cacs period. Never said or insinuated that "most" were but, as someone who served, I firmly believe there are enough of them who are or can be radicalized to be concerned.

We haven't even talked about the guard and reserves. I believe they would be worse.

Exactly. Yes there will definitely be people that are prepared for a coup or insurrection but the reason the military is so powerful is its discipline and dedication to order. Part of that is the oath everyone takes going in. To degrade that aspect of service is just a half step from anarchy. If we devolve into that it won't really matter if there's a military or not because everyone in the country is armed.

All that shit went out the window when Obama got elected. The President, Vice President, Senate, Congress and state legislators take the same damn oath. And you see in real time that shit means nothing to them.

I would not be surprised if our military is not far behind. Don't sleep

But the former commander in chief has done just this repeatedly, and is running around free as an obese, orange nazi bird.

I understand how it is supposed to go, but there is clearly dissent in the ranks, and it is broken down on political lines.

How do you explain the Flynns? I don't mean Errol.

Always found it kinda weird...that u.s. deadly troop mos went almost overnite from blacks and latins to white patriots after 9/11..If they really wanted to stop a brown majority in the military/start war(s)/rape resources...how far would elite actually go..?

I'm not 100% on this but was Flynn acting in a military capacity while Trump was in? Or was he retired? I know the one Flynn who's a current General, heard him vocal about Trump but he still has to answer to others above him.

Everyone will always be human and have their beliefs. But at the end of the you still have to follow orders and stfu or be court martialed if you oppose an order.

Since we on the topic of military, don't know if those of you reading this are aware, but all 50 states have the Natl Guard activated to keep order as of this writing.

Russia is going to invade Ukraine by weekend.
There are Russian subs off the US coast, so stay diligent. Somethings about to go down

I’m still in and I can wholeheartedly say I joined for the paycheck. However, I do care a lot for this country. Especially having read books of how our black forefathers were treated and even more so at talking with former black veterans. Then cats paved the way for us. I don’t do all that rah rah, motivation, cadence bullshit but I respect what my ancestors did for this country. And how they never really got what they deserved for their sacrifices. (The lack of GI bill access for one). It’s some racist cats in here for sure. But I think that most people wouldn’t want this nation to become a third world hell hole for the sake of these punk ass politicians. They’d bite the bullet and fight to jeep our way of life intact. I know I would anyway. Grunt life.
Also, to whoever compared the prez, VP and other cabinet members to us service members and how we take the same path? It ain’t the same. We say the same words but the meaning is far different. Those fuckers are nothing but politicians. Which means corrupt, opportunistic assholes. We haven’t had a pres who served since what, Kennedy? Don’t compare me to those cats. They don’t deserve to shine our damn boots. Fuck them. They don’t know a damn thing about an oath. We different. Straight up. And most real soldiers, airmen, marines, sailors know this.

Well said. You Navy? If so what is your rate? I was a Storekeeper 2nd Class (SK2) which are now Logistics Specialists (LS2)

Since they didn't on 1/6 I doubt they will but, it's the ones that will do it as part of a militia that should worry about. Granted there are tons of racist of all races in the military being labeled a traitor or terrorist to the lifer crowd will hurt their pride for life. They worry more about a legacy then anything.

Fools ain’t trying to serve life in prison for treason.
There will be no split with the military.

I am a US ARMY Vet.

The military operates as a team. A unit.

A M1 Abrams tank operates with a 4 man crew. You can’t operate it with 2 men in it.

A US NAVY Aircraft carrier operates with close to 5000 personnel, it can’t fully operate with half the crew.

To launch a ICBM, you need two people to turn the key and initiate the launch sequence. One person can’t do it.

A 177mm howitzer needs about 8 personnel to load and get a round on target. You can’t operate it with 3 guys.

A NAVY SEAL or Special Forces operator cannot conduct warfare by himself, he is lethal when he is working with his team.
