Way too early to go into panic mode, because every few years there is some form of bird flu, usually in dense populations where there is plenty of poultry livestock present. The good news is that they are usually easily contained and usually don't spread into an actual pandemic.
I think the only reason why people's antenna is up now, is of course due to what's going on in the Covid crisis that has everyone looking over their shoulders wondering what's next. But statistically speaking, what's next is usually nothing, because, if I am not mistaken, there has never been a case where two deadly widespread pandemics that occur back to back to each other.
