My Thoughts on this past Wednesday's Dynamite...
Danielson/Page II: I wanted to make sure that I watched this with no commercials before providing my analysis. I love the pace, storytelling and psychology of this match in comparison to the first match. While the first match was excellent this one had a bit more aggression, blood and brutality to it.
I've always said when guys like Danielson and eventually CM Punk lose it's got to be to the benefit of putting over younger day one stars. Page is a made man now. He's beaten Omega and Danielson; two of the best in-ring performers of the modern era. His title reign is cemented now. All he has to do now is pad up his title defenses and he's good to go. I rank this match ***** stars.
MJF/CM Punk Segment: Good work from these two. Loved these two pipe bombs ..
MJF to CM Punk: Do you think you're Roddy Piper because the last time I checked unlike you Roddy Piper was actually talented enough to main event a Wrestlemania.
CM Punk to MJF: And listen pal if you think the grass is greener on the other side, be my guest go ahead leave, main event night 4 of a buy 1 get 1 free extravaganza and then get released faster than you last in the sack.
Jericho/2.0 Segment: Not a good segment. Jericho feuding with 2.0 is boring and nobody cares. Somehow 2.0 manages to get airtime on Dynamite yet Jay Lethal is currently stuck wrestling on Dark. Get your best talents on the A show Tony.
Wadlow/jobber 213: Building Wardlow up with all these squashes to lead to CM Punk beating him next week? Hope that doesn't happen. I gave this match * star.
Ruby Soho/Jade: Again I want to start off by saying that I love Jade and hope in three years with more experience she becomes the most dominant force in women's wrestling. She has a unique, phenomenal look and all the potential in the world but she's not ready. With that said here are my thoughts on the match.
I came in expecting this to be terrible but it actually wasn't that bad and the reason being the psychology was strong for the most part. Jade sold her knee and Ruby sold her arm. They basically got Jade doing a Big poppa pump Scott Steiner gimmick. She does a move then flexes to the crowd or does some sort of exercise like push-ups to get heat. They have her working slow and methodical which is what you want to do with a wrestler of her experience level. Doesn't necessarily make for an exciting match but at least it'll help her not get exposed as much.
The finish was clumsy as hell. I was hoping Jade wasn't going to legit fuck Ruby up. Looks like the finisher was originally suppose to be from the top rope but then Jade realized she wasn't going to be stable enough to do it from there so she got back down and did it from the second rope. I could just visualize Tony and Cody back at the gorilla position with the cringe face.
On a side note supposedly Tony all along had Jade booked to win this tournament and it wasn't in response to Swole's comments. Jade the first TBS Champion. I gave this match ** stars.
Serena Deeb/JR interview: Considers herself the best wrestler on the women's roster. No lies told there. We get Shida/Deeb 4 next week on Dynamite.
Brian Pillman Jr/Malakai Black: Another fued nobody cares about. Crowd dead for this. Pillman Jr has no edge to him. He's boring. Malakai deserves better than this. Tony giving Pillman Jr the opportunities to get himself over but it's not working. He's simply not his dad and never will be. I gave this match ** 1/2 stars.
Jurassic Express/Lucha Brothers: Disappointing title reign by the Lucha Brothers. I don't know if Tony called an audible or not with Fenix's injury but they did absolutely nothing with the belts. I knew sooner or later they were gonna put the belts on Jurassic Express. They've been waiting a long time. Jungle Boy needed to get some gold. I gave this match ***1/2 stars.
Miscellaneous note: Lol, I spotted three guys in the crowd with "Shut up Tony Khan" t-shirts on.
