49ers

Last night was a rough one. I hate games where we just shoot ourselves in the foot over and over. It upsets me more than anything. We should have won that game handily, but instead we got bad Jimmy.

I know there's been whispers of us keeping him on next season but I don't see it. Even during the winning streak I didn't see it. He still locks onto one receiver. He will force the ball to that one receiver. He will not throw it outside to save his life. When he does throw it outside its off target AF. His ceiling is what we know it is.

Josh Norman couldn't cover a baby just learning how to walk. I don't even know why he's out there. At least the rookie Thomas is in position to make a play (he just doesn't), Norman's guy is always open, with him 3 to 5 yards away. :smh:

I feel bad for Juice. I thought about all the times Shanny has schemed him open downfield over the years and all the times our QB's have not gotten him the ball. Dude is missing out on so many touchdowns and big plays its ridiculous.

(You know he don't give a damn about calling out Jimmy, LOL)

To be fair our top 2 corners are/were injured. Norman is a C rated corner at best. Thomas is a rookie drafted to be red shirted this year.
It appears to be a scheme thing at this point. Bend 15 yd completions (let the DL get sacks), dont break (allow 30+ yard receptions)

It is not just this year, Our Secondary has been bad for a couple years now!!..The last time we had a good Secondary Unit is when Harburgh was coaching us and went to the SB that time!!..That was really the last time we had a good Secondary Unit!!..

When speaking of the secondary we need to dissect it to be fair.

Cornerbacks
The DB’s are top heavy. We can all agree that Verrett, Mosley and Williams are a good #1, #2 and slot corners. We’re set there. It’s just a matter of health because behind them we‘re lacking. I know we drafted rookies this season, but previously we had guys who were a big drop off and it shows.

We honestly need to actually develop these young guys. I love that Thomas and Lenior got run this season. It will help them long-term. I would actually love for Lenior to start opposite Thomas, cause Josh Norman sucks. We can clearly see why he had not been signed by any team prior to use signing him.

Safeties
Ward and Tartt. They are better closer to the line than back in coverage. You can see the amount of times a deep ball is thrown and they are arriving late to the play. That doesn’t help with coverage. 15 yards and closer to the line of scrimmage though, they are lights out.

Depth is also an issue here. Losing Tarvarius Moore to injury hurts. He was basically the backup at both positions. He’s longer and has more speed than both Ward and TartT. When he filled in last season he played well. This was a year when we expected him to take a Al-Shaair type of leap.

So as you can see the big issue here is outside/deep coverage. Because our safeties don’t really help on the outside, the corners are solo. They need to hold up. Verrett & Williams have proven they can, but after them you prey for a good outcome. PLUS, Ryans does not double team anyone. We learned this week 3 versus Green Bay. He just let Adams cook. The Titans used the same game plan. Max protect and let Brown cook.

1. We can't really rely on Jason Verrett because he's so injury prone. They babied him all year & he still got hurt.
Bruh, if you just sneeze on him wrong, he will tear an ACL or some shit.

2. K'waun Williams is pretty solid, but the issue is he's getting old. He will be 31 years old next July. And for a CB, that shit is old.

3. Mosley is solid though. Not great, but pretty solid

4. And yeah Josh Norman is complete trash. Dude always gives up a ton of cushion
Dude gives up easy completions underneath & gives up deep bombs downfield
Or just holds like a mofo until the refs throw a flag
His only claim to fame is punching out the ball to force a fumble.....but only after the WR beats him

5. Minus whale keep Ambry Thomas out there
At least he has the potential to improve, unlike Josh Norman or Dontae Johnson

6. If the 49ers were serious about making a deep playoff push
They probably should've made a play for Stephon Gilmore, who was traded away by the Patriots :(

Yeah @CurtDawg - They know Verrett is fragile and aging. Plus Williams is aging and because he’s basically the 3rd LB on the field he tends to get hurt. I think that’s whey they grabbed 2 DB’s in the draft. Gotta start getting younger guys in to replace them.

Mosley is sold. I still think he’s better in the right DB position, but he’s not an issue. I can easily see Thomas starting opposite him and Lenior in the slot in the future.

I said weeks ago Norman was a liability. I don’t even know why he’s out there. If Ryans made the decision to bench him I would not be mad Because he’s not even competing at this point.

I don’t remember the cap implications of adding Gilmore but you know because of Shanny’s relationship with Belicheat we could have gotten him.

So now they're trying to say it's related to his thumb being injured......

Yeah something isn't adding up here. NOT ONE MENTION of the injury?!
And if you are injured #10 get your ass.out the game them breh!

:roflmao::roflmao::roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:

I'm cracking up right now. LOL
The coaches are making up phantom injuries, LOL
Fellas.....Shhhhh.....We still need to trade him for a high draft pick
We just need 1 sucker to fall for the okie doke ;)

Agreed and if Darnold and them other shitty cacs can get traded for high draft picks Jimmy is at least a 2nd rounder with a conditional pick included .
Also
If I'm not mistaken he has an injury clause in his contract stating that if he's injured on like April 1st they HAVE to pay his FULL salary for 2022..
So take that as you will

Apparently this was the play her got injured on. Compton and Juice said he told them about it.

The funny part is he has a guy running wide open underneath. If he pulls the trigger he doesn’t get sacked.

Similar To Jimmy Garoppolo's Thumb Injury.....

People on Twitter wishing Jimmy G well and saying thanks for the memories like he's retiring. Shit is funny. All of a sudden he is beloved.

Looking at some passes after he got sacked, the ball came out of his hands funny on some throws. It clearly affected him. With some time off now you know that thing is swollen and hurts like crazy. I don't see how he could grip a ball effectively. Which means he would be done for the season.
