Terra Deveaux Alexander, Indianapolis, passed away April 10, 2020.
She was born May 24, 1975 in Chicago.
Terra is survived by her husband, Bryan Alexander; son Hymne Deveaux of Indianapolis; stepdaughters Maddie and Bridget Alexander of Carmel; mother Sandra of Dolton, Illinois; brothers William Haulcy (wife: Diane) and Demetrius Haulcy (wife: Katnetha); mother-in-law Alice Alexander of Portland; and sisters-in-law Gina Denton of Portland and Kristie Alexander of Johnson City, Tennessee.
She was a graduate of Northern Illinois University with a bachelor’s degree in political science and completed courses in drama and film and television at the Tish School of the Arts at New York University.
Terra was a devoted mother and wife and lived to serve others. She was a former social justice leader at Oasis Church, Los Angeles, and a proud and active member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority. Her sisterhood was central in her life and she joined her sorors monthly in Chicago for fellowship and to engage in community projects focused on serving the underprivileged and the elderly. She never passed on an opportunity to help those in need.
Along with her husband Bryan, Terra enjoyed travel and she was blessed enough to see all corners of the country along with her beloved tropical beach locations by his side. Despite coming from different places, Bryan and Terra were each other's best friend and loved to spend time together laughing and enjoying life.
She was ambitious and could never be distracted from chasing her passions. She was a member of the Screen Actors Guild and was a working actress and model for over 10 years. She published a book and produced a movie.
Her professional passion was based on healing. She had her own massage practice (Holistic Terra) in Broad Ripple for almost 10 years and was not only a therapist but a friend to many of her clients.
She was a proud mother and was able to see her son achieve the goals that they, together, had worked so hard to achieve. Most importantly, she was a child of God and worked daily on her relationship with Him.
Given the current circumstances, there will be a private service in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home, Portland, Indiana, with burial in the Green Park Cemetery.
A public homecoming celebration will be held in Chicago at a later date.
This one is kind of hard to follow. So she was married to a dude named Bryan Alexander with whom, according to her obituary, she had a loving marriage but she was killed by her boyfriend (she was referred to as one of his girlfriends in the linked article above), a dude named Daniel Clark who killed her at his apartment, and then shortly thereafter went to Maryland and killed ANOTHER girlfriend? What the fuck? What's going on here? And the killer was supposedly some Bible quoting do-gooder Army captain whose greatest offense against society until killing 2 Black women and himself was a traffic ticket? This story is crazy as hell.
Just some observations:
She was happily married AND had a boyfriend. Unfortunately for her a killer boyfriend at that.
She is the first porn chick that I have seen be confirmed to be a member of a Black sorority.
She had a massage business. So that makes me wonder was it a legit massage business or was the business a front for her maybe hoeing on the side with "happy endings" and all? Or maybe it was both depending on the client? I mean I'm sure at least some folks knew that she had done porn before. That shit is kind of hard to hide and I'm not sure that she ever tried to hide it in the first place so I know if a chick that I knew who used to do porn passed me a card telling me to drop by and check out her massage business I'd try to fuck. The one thing that you do know about her is that she will have sex for money (and let you tape it) if the price is right. And is that how she met the killer boyfriend? And what does the husband think about all of this? Was he in on it? This shit is crazy.
Lastly, according to IAFD, in her brief porn career she never did a scene with a white dude. Only Black dudes. That's kinda rare for Black porn chicks. Most either go into the business doing white dudes or they quickly start doing white dudes after they get into the industry. Especially chicks as fine as she was. But after reading her obituary I kinda get vibes that her husband might be white. But obviously I'm not sure. Wouldn't be surprised though.
I hope she's resting in peace. Another Sister gone too soon.
