I'll say this. The democratic party is hard to love but it's a party that black folk can work with. The people just have to get involved with politics, instead of running away from it. It's no different than being involved in your child's education, upbringing, etc... The child is only going to be as good as the parent/s raise them to be. So just voting and disappearing afterwords is setting up failure.
One thing the republican voters are good at is driving their politicians to do what they want but at the same time the republican party is pretty much monolithic. Whereas the democratic party is made up of many different factions competing to be heard and be the voice of a big complex machine.
So what you have to do is start with your local government/party by holding those folks accountable. Forcing them to hold the national government/party accountable. If the local government does not do what you want. Then you should always have someone ready to replace that person or persons.
Yet the problem is that takes work and most people aren't willing to do the work. So it's easier to walk away. Yet then what?
