Terry Crews faces backlash for involvement in Amazon commercial: ‘This is deranged man’

‘So Amazon can pay Terry an a** load of cash to act like a poor person but they can’t pay their people better wages?’ wrote one person

Terry Crews is facing backlash for playing an Amazon warehouse worker in the company’s recent TikTok advertisement.

Earlier this week, the 53-year-old actor shared a 30-second video with his 20 million followers on the video sharing platform TikTok.

“I heard that Amazon was hiring a bajillion people and thought I’d take a look for myself,” Crews says at the beginning of the ad.

In the video, Crews can be seen performing tasks and giving everybody an apparent inside look at what it’s like to work at an Amazon warehouse.

Towards the end, the Brooklyn Nine-Nine star reveals that Amazon employees are said to have benefits like paid tuition and flexible hours.

Many fans of the actor were outraged by his involvement in the advertisement.

Political commentator Hasan Piker posted the ad on Twitter, accompanied by the caption: “This is deranged man.”

“I’ll be honest, I didn’t expect to see Terry Crews as a working-class shill for trillion-dollar-plus Amazon,” added another person.

Another fan commented on Amazon’s “track record with employee satisfaction”.

They wrote: “This embarrassing as s***. Not some millionaire actor trying to promote and glorify manual labour. If you’re going to do PR for a company with a horrible track record with employee satisfaction this is the LAST thing that you should do.”

I'm not a fan of his past cooning but what's wrong with him getting paid for this ad? :dunno:

People out there acting like Amazon are the KKK... :o

I've seen other celebrities endorsing worse companies and products without any major complaints.

Because he's rich and he is fighting against amazon workers unionizing. (not him specifically but the company is using him to do it). If they form a union they have the potential to make more money. So basically he's a rich man getting paid to tell poor people to you're good where you're at.

I see him as a celebrity used by Amazon to promote their recruitment drive for new workers. Offering people employment can only be a good thing.... the issue of unionizing is a totally separate issue which I doubt Crews had in mind when he decided to do the ad and get paid by Amazon....

..... I am not encouraging Amazon's lack of union support but at the same time they are not the only company in the USA to have such a issue and if Crews didn't do the ad I'm sure some other rich celebrity would do it.

the internet is a funny fuckin place..

20 fragile muthafuckas could make a comment

on birds flying over their heads..

and it will be titled,

The whole world wants birds DEAD!!

I had no idea this commercial even existed....

some salty amazon cacs..

just upset, they are not

in his tax bracket... the same ones complaining

wouldve been all on his dick

asking for autographs if they were there while he

was filming..

we put too much energy in internet commentary sometimes

Fuck him but I thought that amazon gave their workers a vote to unionize and they voted no.

Terry Crews is a celebrity because of his personality, not his brains. He's more about doing the outlandish, he's an attention whore.

I'm not surprised the people voted no on a Union. Unions have lost their much of their juice. Even the Teamsters have less power than they once did.

I asked a few friends about Amazon and most seem happy they had no complaints. You don't here that from many people working anywhere..

why are they paying him to pretend to be an Amazon warehouse worker instead of hiring an amazon warehouse worker?

and if he is standing there lying about what it is like to work there to deceive his 200 million followers that isn't a good look.

and the number one reason is Terry Crews is a coon and fuck anything he does .

As I see it, there are 3 main problems with the ad.
#1. Amazon has a terrible track record with regards to the treatment of their employees and their refusal to let their workers to unionize.
#2. Amazon then hires a wealthy, celebrity spokesman to promote a hiring drive. someone who doesn't need to earn a standard living wage.
#3. Terry Crews.

- Crews; (a well known shill), is a socially unevolved, sexually neutered, "safe", big Black buffoon who caters to White fears, embraces traditional White values, and who has openly denounced The Black Power Movement and who will ALWAYS side with the owners/management for a paycheck.

It's like LITERALLY hiring a big buffed version of Tim Scott as their spokesman..

I onno what's going on with Amazon workers but I like Amazon. They bring my shit to me in a timely manner and the shit aint expensive.

:dunno:

As far as T.C., I aint got no opinion about the brotha. He a black man getting a legitimate bag as far as I can tell. The word "coon" is not being used properly with this commercial. Is he an overall coon? I can't call that one. :dunno:

They did. Roland had a few black Amazon workers on his show that were anti-union. Their basic argument seemed to be that if they want raises or have issues they can talk to management individually. They also seem to indicate that has long as they got theirs, fuck everybody else.

Leave it to skinin', grinnin', tommin', I is a good negro, punk ass Terry Crews to come down on the wrong side every time. Perhaps if he had done a little research into the many facility worker and driver complaints about demeaning managerial practices at Amazon he might have decided not to do a buck dancing commercial for that company. but I doubt it. :smh:

Idk either way, really, I don’t.

For the people in the thread, however, who’d don’t think this ad is a calculated move to capitalize on celebrity to continue to treat workers sh!tty, you need to get your white insecurity in blackface radar up.

If James Baldwin were alive, he could tell you exactly what it is.

Terry is not overly excited about being Black.

Aside:

Union's are responsible for the most thriving middle class period in the history of the USA....they used to have to bring gangsters with clubs and guns to break up union demonstrations for higher pay and a safe workplace....now they got the very people who would benefit from the union arguing against unions....as in most cases, propaganda and misinformation is more powerful than the gun.

He is an actor. Perhaps not among the best, but that is is profession.

He was hired for a job and did it.

So... would you prefer that Amazon hire a white actor next time?

Or should only black actors be prohibited from working from companies of which you do not approve?

No fan of Amazon, but in a system of wage slavery, one rarely gets to choose one's masters.

So if you were an actor you would do an ad for the NRA? After all its just a job right?

Unionization is the bane of the robber baron.
This is why Reagan fired the air traffic controllers, effectively breaking the back of the union.

Unions is the U.S. have been declining precipitously ever since, as well the purchasing power
of the average working class American.

No, I personally would not, if there were other options available.

Then again, I will drive two miles to buy a beer to avoid the Chaldean store across the street. Why? To avoid
doing business with people who most likely voted for tRump.

How we spend our money can be a political act. How we make our money is more subject to nuance, due to the fact
that survival may depend on it.

Most whores don't want to be whores. Plenty of pussy for sale these days.

He may not be the best actor but he certainly excels at skinnin' and grinnin. And yes I would have preferred Amazon hired a white actor to push that company's bullshit narrative about how great it is to work there when there is plenty of evidence to the contrary. Getting a paycheck is not all that matters if it is a cost of abandoning personal integrity. :hmm:
