Why are there so few Black American players in MLB 74 years after Jackie Robinson took the field?

That may be the case now but that's not what lead up to the lack of interest leading to that perception. Black kids use to grow up playing baseball in the parks, little league, highschool, etc....

I'd go with it being boring... Kids that are talented athletically seem to have more interest in Basketball & Football... even some top tier athletes who make it to D1 stick it out to long praying to hear their name called in the NBA or NFL............... when their athletic talent alone probably would give them a legit chance at going to MLB and beating out some less talented/athletic players... Anyway just one reason that I always toss around regarding this question.

shit in Chicago a couple of years ago they were so thirsty for a championship they closed down the loop to watch the little league world series.



The real reason is that parents don't spend the same time with kids as they used to and when they do its for basketball and football.


I will say that little league costs money now but so does basketball unless they are good enough to get on a shoe company sponsored aau team.


when I was coming up little league and football was paid or by the parks and recreation and now the average registration is 100

Lots of Black kids here in Oakland play baseball. Some of the best players in the MLB are from out here
