I agree with you, but it's funny, because he does a lot of Commodores songs in concert. More than his solo stuff.Lionel easy. He was his own hit maker. He was writing his own shit and writing for everyone else. Bobby was only as good as the producers he hired. After LaFace and Teddy Riley he dried up quick. I did like a lot of Bobby's music but he doesn't have enough hits to do a one man show. Lionel can do his own concert easy without even touching the stuff he wrote for the Commodores.
Not even close. Lionel had hits in multiple decades after the Commodores. Bobby had a few years riding on Teddy and New Jack then done.

Well he should since he wrote them all. He doesn't distinguish between solo and Commodore music if he's the composer.I agree with you, but it's funny, because he does a lot of Commodores songs in concert. More than his solo stuff.
Not "Zoom" & "Too Hot To Trot".Well he should since he wrote them all

...I know rightYeah, you're right. Growing up I didn't even consider those when I thought about the Commodores. We were stuck on Brick House, Easy, Three Times a Lady and Sail On.Not "Zoom" & "Too Hot To Trot".

Ronald LaPread was supposed to write "Zoom". He wrote the song, and his wife said his lyrics sucked. So, he said to her, "If you can better, then you write the lyrics!", and after she was done, he was likeYeah, you're right. Here on BGOL years ago, someone told a story of the greatest heist in music history. He was co writer of we are the world.. that right there puts Richie on another level.

Ronald LaPread was supposed to write "Zoom". He wrote the song, and his wife said his lyrics sucked. So, he said to her, "If you can better, then you write the lyrics!", and after she was done, he was like. She died before they could record it, and while they were recording it, they kept crying.
"Too Hot To Trot" was for a soundtrack. When Lionel heard the song, he said "I'm not singing that bullshit!" The drummer, Walter Orange decided to sing it, and when they were almost finished with the song, Lionel realized the song was really pretty good, and he decided to jump in on it, and that's why you only hear him at the end of the song.
Lionel by far. They not even in the same league.
Shit, Lionel still printing money till this day off them hits.
