It's called the presentation. When presented with the facts of what they do, does in fact, coincide with what it's called, they cringe. If a guy smacks his wife around, he'll own it, but if you call him a "wife beater", he'll push back, even though that's what he is.
It reminds me of an old roommate of mine. An older white man who was one of the nicest most gregarious people you could ever meet. He didn't have one black friend he had several.
However, when I would hang out with this dude on his own every now and then he would go on a racist rant that would make David Duke blush. After a minute I started telling people what he was all about. Nobody wanted to listen.
Years later after we all moved out of the house a mutual black friend of ours owed him money that he couldn't pay back. All of a sudden this nice, gregarious older white man texted a picture of himself and a few cacs dressed in full Nazi regalia holding automatic weapons.
In that spirit it would be interesting to see 10 years of Ruben's coaching decisions, personal relationships, and public statements through the lens of this email.
One thing that's interesting about Gruben, and other white people who have been caught up on old emails, is that they will condemn what they said but rarely speak to how they've moved forward since.
You can’t be serious, there was a time when those same type of white people told those “jokes” in public and didn’t care who heard them, back then a person like Gruden would’ve told Demaurice Smith he had lips like Michelin tires to his face and laughed, they were proud to show how racist they were. Only After the civil rights movement forced change then those people started telling those jokes just amongst their friends
Perfect example and this goes with what I said above because years ago it was seen as acceptable to beat your wife if she so called got out of line and guys had no problem with being called wife beaters but when women’s rights were pushed then those same guys were still beating their wives but would completely deny it in public and that’s when women started running into door knobs, cabinets and being clumsy, falling down the stairs all the time

He previously worked for his uncle Jay Gruden while he was on the hot seat, but he was already with Las Vegas when his uncle was fired during the 2019 season. Now, he is in the midst of team and family drama following his father's resignation.

Gruden is a competitive powerlifter who won gold at the 2017 International Powerlifting Federation's World Classic Powerlifting Championships in Belarus. He also played college football at Lafayette University, where he was a running back from 2012-15. He had 16 career carries for 46 yards.

The team's training staff came under fire for that, but Jay Gruden deflected blame away from Washington's strength and conditioning team. However, safety D.J. Swearinger was critical of the team's approach to training.
