TV SHOWS / SERIES - Seen any good ones lately? Please feel free to post reviews / feedback / trailers / articles / TV news / all that shit ...

Scenes From A Marriage Very intense and actually overwhelmingly so exploration of all types of relationships. Well acted by the entire cast with realistic scenes of turmoil and heartache.I wish HBO/MAX had posted more than one episode.

I had just happen to catch this show last night for the first time and yes it was well acted. Felt all the emotion the husband portrayed but it was a lost cause especially when she said, "I'm not attracted to you anymore. How do you fix that?" and walked out the door. And their friends knew it was about to happen but did not give him a heads up. Will be watching this more of show.

Gonna check it out soon. Thanks for the reviews & have been hearing good things from reviewers too.

On a similar note - enjoyed the movie Marriage Story from a couple of years ago. Saw it in late-2019 ... for those who like(d) Marriage Story, definitely check out the movie The Squid and the Whale (also from director Baumbach) from the mid-2000s. Good performances there too.

Marriage Story is a 2019 drama film written and directed by Noah Baumbach, who produced the film with David Heyman. It stars Scarlett Johansson and Adam Driver, with Laura Dern, Alan Alda, Ray Liotta, Julie Hagerty, and Merritt Wever in supporting roles. The film follows a married couple, an actress and a stage director (Johansson and Driver), going through a coast-to-coast divorce.

The project was announced in November 2017, with the film cast joining that month. Filming took place in New York City and Los Angeles between January and April of the following year. Released by Netflix, the film had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival on August 29, 2019, and began a limited theatrical release on November 6, followed by digital streaming on December 6.

Marriage Story received widespread critical acclaim, with praise going towards Baumbach's screenplay and direction, the performances of Johansson, Driver and Dern, and Randy Newman's musical score. Among its many accolades, the film received six nominations at the 92nd Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, Best Actor (Driver), and Best Actress (Johansson). It also received a leading six nominations at the 77th Golden Globe Awards, including Best Motion Picture – Drama, as well as five at the 73rd British Academy Film Awards. For her performance, Dern won the Academy Award, the Golden Globe, the Screen Actors Guild Award, the BAFTA Award for Best Supporting Actress and the Critics' Choice Movie Award.

The Squid and the Whale is a 2005 American independent arthouse drama film written and directed by Noah Baumbach and produced by Wes Anderson. It tells the semi-autobiographical story of two boys in Brooklyn dealing with their parents' divorce in 1986. The film is named after the giant squid and sperm whale diorama housed at the American Museum of Natural History, which is seen in the film. The film was shot on Super 16mm, mostly using a handheld camera.

At the 2005 Sundance Film Festival, the film won awards for best dramatic direction and screenwriting, and was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize. Baumbach later received an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay. The film received six Independent Spirit Award nominations and three Golden Globe nominations. The New York Film Critics Circle, Los Angeles Film Critics Association and the National Board of Review voted its screenplay the year's best.

I thought Marriage story was a really good film, its probably the least attractive Scar Jo has looked to me in any film tho with Match Point being the sexiest she's been in her entire filmography to me

Agreed. She was in plainjane mode with the look.

Very good acting & dialogue / exchanges from her and Adam Driver throughout.

yeah i think for me her hair style had in there had a lot to do with it. But yeah her and Driver held it down with their performance in there.

took me a minute to realize that was even her. And if i did not see her name in the credits, i probably still would not have recognized her. show looks good. may check it out.

Let us know whatcha think if & when you check out the movie.

This surprisingly wasnt bad for a remake pilot..knew they were going to end it on a serious moment(MLK assassinated)

The final scene though :smh:

oh yes when a woman says that and she's in love with someone else and is fully invested in the new relationship and priorities have left her mind you know it's over !! I hope they show him confront his friends because that was lame for them to be so casual about it.

What If This felt like the prologue for Thor : Love & Thunder which will likely have 4 times the slapstick and jokes in this episode.

American Rust: Another well done small town murder mystery in which everyone knows everyone so much so that they know what their neighbor is going to do before they do it plus it's laced with regrets and pain from the past

Watched the Survivor premiere. Good to have the show back. It's a condensed format this season with the game play taking place over 26 days, instead of their typical 39 or so.

Caught The Wonder Years' reboot pilot. Enjoyed it.

The season 1 finale for Reservation Dogs. Liked how they ended things and look forward to season 2 next year or so. Definitely one of the breakout shows of the year. Good balance of the comedic with the dramatic.

Episode 4 of Vigil. It has held our interest throughout. 2 more episodes to go with this limited series.

Didn't see Only Murders in the Building, or Ted Lasso. So gonna have to catch up on a few episodes of each next week. We usually watch stuff mid-week.

The movies are good, add Sing and The Secret life of Pets as some good wholesome movies for kids.

STAR WARS VISIONS Just like with Netflix's Love,Death and Robots this animated series based in the Star Wars universe has some great short but involving episodes and some just ok episodes that reminded me of the super kiddie cartoons I would watch with my son when he was 5 to 10 years old.
I truly admire all the effort, time and artistry of the episodes I've watched so far.
