Omar's whistle is iconic around Baltimore and will be forever remembered.

The whistle, synonymous for impending trouble, was played before the Ravens' pregame introductions ahead of "Sunday Night Football" against the Kansas City Chiefs – Baltimore's home opener and first game with a packed stadium since the 2019 season.

It's a tribute to late actor Michael K. Williams, who played Omar Little in the Baltimore-based TV show, "The Wire." Williams was found dead in his Brooklyn home on Sept. 6.

I'd imagine most of the folks there were/are Washington fans. I mean bmore has had a lot more recent success, but they are still a relatively new team.

The Ravens have 2 championships and a few Hall of Famers, they're not new at all, relatively or otherwise. And Baltimore has a huge fanbase that's very loyal. They don't need DC fans to fill out the stadium. Not sure where you're pulling that info from.

Im talking the people who would have been on the wire.

The ravens are successful for sure, but the ravens as a franchise only began existing in 1996. Im barely in my 30's, and remember them being created.

Its no shock that people who were football fans in that area before 1996 would cling to the team closest to them. DC is like 30 miles from Baltimore. The next closest team is what? The eagles at over 100 miles?

What a way to honor him,he would of never thought they would do that but someone in that front office is for sure a fan.

Not the front office but their stadium fan experience team. If you've ever been to a Ravens game you know they do things to get that stadium rocking. From the music they play to the stuff they show on the screens, it's all about getting that local crowd hyped.

Was there any NFL team merch on the show......cuz I doubt they wanted their gear on a show featuring drugs / drug dealing and corrupted coos / politicians....
True. That's a real good point

I’m still on Fuck the NFL, but this is surreal shit
That was real real cool.. I got chills a little bit.. Great way to honor him and I wouldn't have expected that.
Me to homie that was dope as hell. You couldn't have done a tribute any better.
Cool... they should have included "eeyyyooo!"

The Ravens need to make that permanent. Get the crowd silent and then play it... Oh, and fuck the NFL.

Who is paying NFL prices to go see a team that they have no interest in/ rivalry with?

Prices of a Sunday night game between Mahommes and Jackson had to be through the roof. If I'm going to spend that kinda bread I better be rooting for a team playing

I grew up in Baltimore. Before the Ravens came, you did see a lot of Redskin jerseys. I haven't seen a Washington jersey in Baltimore in a long time.
Did a signifcant number of B-more folks follow the Colts when they went to Indy? I know that team move was kinda shady, but that franchise built there name in B-more. I know they followed the Bullets/Wizards to DC for the most part

Yes there was a little, I remember Naymond wearing some during season 4. Donut might have worn some too.

They actually still had the Colts band until the Ravens came. I was a teenager when I found out the Colts used to play in Baltimore. I may have seen one Colts Starter Jacket growing up, but that was it. A lot of people(like my dad) still hate the Deadskins--as he calls them. I never liked the skins because they always showed the games on TV every week, even though they were an hour away. I was like "this isn't DC, why do they keep showing this team?" We have a team( with a legacy of winning), so there's no reason for anyone to give a fuck about Washington.
