Nicki Minaj's husband, Kenneth "Zoo" Petty, has entered a plea deal for failing to register as a sex offender in the state of California, PEOPLE can confirm.
Court records obtained by PEOPLE show that the 43-year-old pleaded guilty on Thursday during a virtual hearing with the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, which oversees both central and southern parts of the state.
He now faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a lifetime of supervised release. Petty's sentencing has been scheduled for Jan. 24, 2022. An attorney for Petty and a representative for Minaj did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's requests for comment.

Petty was arrested in March 2020 after being indicted for failure to register as a sex offender. At the time, Petty pleaded not guilty and posted $100,000 bail, according to records accessed by PEOPLE.
He initially faced legal trouble after being pulled over by the Beverly Hills Police Department on Nov. 15, 2019, when the department determined he was registered as a sex offender in New York — but not in California, where he now resides, TMZ reported.

Petty is required to register as a sex offender, as he was convicted for the first-degree attempted rape of a 16-year-old girl in 1995. He was sentenced to 18 to 54 months, but spent four years in prison. Petty is a level-two registered offender in New York, which means he's considered a "moderate risk of repeat offense."

Last month, Petty's alleged rape victim, Jennifer Hough, filed a lawsuit against him and Minaj, 38, in which she accused the pair of attempting to intimidate her into recanting her rape accusation.
The lawsuit also accused Petty and Minaj, who married in October 2019, of intentional infliction of emotional distress and alleged that the couple had offered Hough up to $500,000 to recant her claims.
"If I lie now and say that I lied then, you know what that does?" Hough told The New York Times in August. "Do you know what that's going to say to my two little girls, or even my sons?"

New York State Department of Corrections records show he served just under four years and was released in January 1999.

Yeah they BOTH have repeatedly harassed the women, to get her to recant. They offered her cash and she turned it down. Shit she had a restraining order, even moved multiple times. Somehow they kept tracking her down.

If she recanted, he could probably appeal the verdict and sex offender registration. Now he is going back to jail, with a brand new kid. All he had to do is just register in California and live off his wife's millions.

I tell ya Nikki sure picked a fucked up husband. Deaded her own career:smh:

According to court records from Kenny Petty‘s 1994 rape case, obtained by The Blast, the 16-year-old victim explained to cops a terrifying situation in which she was allegedly abducted and violently raped by Petty.


The female victim told police that on September 16, 1994 in Queens, NY, she was walking down the street when Petty came up behind her and “placed a hard circular object” against her back and “made a clicking sound.” The victim believed Petty had a handgun against her body, and he instructed her to “keep walking.”

The two walked to an address down the street, and she claims Petty forced her upstairs into his bedroom by pushing her from behind with what she believed to be a handgun.


Once inside Petty’s room, the victim claimed he “laid his weight on top … pinched her sides and squeezed her neck causing her to sustain bruises and pain.” She then claimed Petty “forced his penis” into her vagina.

The victim claims she tried to escape, but Petty “brandished a knife” and held it against her stomach, telling her “she could not leave.” The victim claims she eventually struck Petty with a plastic bottle and escaped.

She reported the incident to police, and that same day they responded to Petty’s home and arrested him. Police claim he questioned, “what am I being arrested for,” while claiming, “I didn’t do anything.”



When the girl was brought up, Petty told police he had not seen her that day, but then claimed he had seen her at the bus stop and had a conversation with her. He says after speaking with the girl, he just went home and fell asleep, but also admitted he had slept with the girl before.
Petty was charged with 5 crimes, rape in the 1st degree, sexual abuse in the 1st degree, unlawful imprisonment in the 2nd degree, assault in the 2nd degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the 4th degree.

He later pled down and was convicted of attempted rape in the 1st degree, and served 4 years in prison. Petty is still a registered sex offender, and must regularly check in for updated location information and photos as a warning to the public.
Minaj has staunchly defended her new boyfriend, and even spoke on the rape, claiming “he was 15, she was 16 … in a relationship,” adding, “But go awf, internet, y’all can’t run my life. y’all can’t even run y’all own life.” It’s unclear if Minaj knows all the details and allegations of the crime.

as far as I know all sex offenders have to report their living address and work place. Its part of the program its a unsupervised type probation in a way. I used to work with a dude who had to turn himself in on halloween every year for a couple hours, took us a while at the job to figure it out.
