Even though things are bad here, people are still walking around with no masks and no fucks given. Over 90% of the white people and young people (of all races) I see aren't wearing masks.
I think that a lot of folks have come to the realization that the pandemic is going to last for years, and they are not willing to mask/vaccinate/distance for that long.
This is in addition to the Facebook effect. I know people that can recite every vaccine conspiracy and disinformation you can think of, but don't know basic things like the age limit to get vaccinated or just how many people have been vaccinated.
