Heels

Heels is a story about the men and women who chase their dreams in the world of small town pro wrestling. Set in a close-knit Georgia community, it follows a family-owned wrestling promotion as two brothers and rivals, Jack Spade and Ace Spade, war over their late father’s legacy. In the ring, somebody must play the good guy and somebody must play their nemesis, the heel. But in the real world, those characters can be hard to live up to — or hard to leave behind.

is this show any good?

Yeah - it's pretty good so far. I've seen the first 2 eps & gonna check the 3rd in a few days. There isn't a lot of wrestling thus far, but they are doing a good job with the "world building" and character development. Has a bit of a Friday Night Lights feel, as some reviewers have been noting. Plus the lead star is a long-time wrestling fan, and has briefly participated with some of the organizations, so he brings some additional authenticity to the story. I'd recommend it.

CLICKBAIT

Im 3 episodes in to this Extremely involving Netflix series .I was immediately invested in the characters plight, the turmoil in the characters family and how and why he ended up in a terrible well beyond terrible predicament.

Vigil

I like submarines and peeped the first episode.

Acting is good, tension and drama is there. First episode ended on a cliff hanger, so I'm looking forward to the next.

Sounds good. Going to add both to the list of shows to watch.

I've seen all 3 eps so far and like it even tho I stopped watching pro wrestling myself since the mid 2000s, like @Helico-pterFunk said the 1st 2 eps doesn't show that much wrestling but ep 3 does have a bit more wrestling match action. It does have a bit of a feel of Friday Night Lights, i hope it'll be near as good as FNL was since FNL is a top tier all time show of mine. I also watched all of Arrow and Vikings so def like seeing Oliver Queen and Bjorn as the main characters here

Glad you're liking the series too. I don't mind the slow build approach they've taken thus far being a new show. Laying the ground work so we know who's who, and what they're about. Also ... if you're looking for some good current pro wrestling, I'd recommend AEW (airs on Wednesdays and Fridays). Been following them in recent years. 2 of my fave current wrestlers below -

Looks like they released their first 3 episodes this week, and are on a weekly basis moving forward. Glanced at the running times commercial-free, they appear to be 29 - 35 mins. Gonna check out 1 or 2 episodes tomorrow. Also going to see the 2nd season finale for Godfather of Harlem, and some Reservation Dogs & Ted Lasso. Near the midway point for both of their seasons.

Sounds good - going to check it out with our next rotation of shows ...

Vigil is a fictional British police procedural television series created by Tom Edge and produced by World Productions. The show commenced on BBC One in August 2021 and will be a series, in six parts.[1][2]

The show stars Martin Compston, Suranne Jones and Rose Leslie.[2] The show is based on the success of recent programmes of the same style, including Line of Duty and also Bodyguard, which were released by the same production company, World Productions. The show was filmed and is set in Scotland, with the events of the show taking place on HMS Vigil, a fictional Vanguard-class submarine of the Royal Navy. The plot is in part inspired by the conspiracy theories surrounding the sinking of the FV Gaul.[3][1]

Only Murders in the Building

Funny and sometimes surprisingly dramatic when we get to the core backgrounds of each character.A little dry and slow paced here and there but 3 episodes in and im looking forward to the next episodes as the 3 leads
Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez play very well together.

We enjoyed it too. Caught the first 2 of 3 episodes. Enjoyed the dynamic with the 3 leads. Like you said, some effective dramatic scenes mixed in. Clever plot line with the “Hardy Boys” twist ... lol also @ the comedic digs at how intense the fandom is for true crime buffs and enthusiasts. Such a huge genre in podcasting.

Finished season 2 of Godfather of Harlem. Enjoyed “Big” and his backstory on Reservation Dogs. Fun dynamic with him and the kid. Also started the Vigil series per the recommendation in this thread. Good stuff. Glanced at some review articles and they scored it 4 and 5 stars respectively.

One to watch for in the months ahead. They were talking about it on The Watch podcast recently (TV & movie news, etc).

Mayor of Kingstown is an upcoming American crime thriller television series created by Taylor Sheridan and Hugh Dillon. It is set to debut on November 14, 2021 on Paramount+.
