BLACK WIDOW

Widow gets her due

PRAISE: But is it to little to late ...well yes and no.
In the story revolving around Black Widow, confronting the darker parts of her ledger when a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her past arises.
Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff / Black Widow is great in the role as usual and there's a great dynamic between her and Florence Pugh as her "sister" Yelena Belova then when the whole "family" gets together including David Harbour as her "father" Alexei Shostakov / Red Guardian and Rachel Weisz as her "mother"Melina Vostokoff it was truly fun to watch
I would actually like to see a series based on Red Guardians glory days.
As a Marvel fan I loved the name drops and references.
The back story for their family and origins of the Black Widows was pretty interesting and surprisingly dark.
I'm actually shocked the Widows weren't more off balance.
There is a lot of raw emotion brilliantly displayed by the main characters.
Some of the action sequences and fight scenes are sharply done. There are a couple of scenes toward the end of the film that were great and I wondered how more effective they would have been if BW got a film earlier in the MCU timeline.

PROBLEMS: The villains have several scenes in which they shine but run out of steam fast. Plot holes are scattered here and there. Some of the CGI looked terrible. I always wonder how much an actor gets paid for just showing their face twice and having one line of dialog.
One scene was so drawn out I couldn't help but say ok let's move on already.
Suspension of disbelief is asked for several times.
I felt one of the characters was really watered down.

It's a bittersweet feeling I have for this film. Not only bittersweet because a lot more could have been done in this film but also because of the ultimate fate of this character. As some of the actors have moved on from the MCU its time for me to move on to what's coming in the MCU.

I thought it was alright. I felt like they delivered this one particularly for a female audience and did what they could to not have a Ghostbusters type of debacle.

I know exactly what scene that you're talking about being drawn out.

The banter about the pose... :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao: only to assume that pose.

I'm glad that I had the option of streaming it vs. going out to see it because I don't feel it would've made Summer Blockbuster numbers IMO.

Started this trilogy of movies yesterday.

Saw the first one & 30 mins of the 2nd one thus far. Enjoying the 2nd one more at this point (that late-70s camp setting). Some recognizable faces from Stranger Things, Your Honor in the trilogy.

I really enjoyed Cleopatra Jones. I saw it the other night the night and some party some parts of it still ring to the day on how cops and how cops plant Drugs on black people, how they use bullshit excuses to raid Homes in the black community

I downloaded the sequel too. I'll peep that another day

Saw this last night. And I thought this was alright. The only negative that I can probably give this movie. Is that, I think this should have been released three to four years ago. And I wished I would have seen this in the theaters. But I waited too damn long to get vaccinated.. So it would have been awhile, before I got to watch this and avoid spoilers. But that's my damn fault.

Space Jam New Legacy HBOMAX

For a kids movie, this is good. With that out the way. The acting in this movie was bad. Across the board excluding Don cheadle Dominc James( Lebrons youngest son). I checked this movie out because of all the Lebron bashing online. So I thought, let me check this out for myself. And it was, what I thought it was:dunno: I think people could have criticized the movie without all the hate. I didnt let the bad acting take me out of the movie though.

I was going to watch the original Space Jam to compare the two movies. But I decided not too. I feel people is letting nostalgia over take their feelings about a supposed newer movie.

With all that being said. If anyone is on the fence on not watching this movie. Check it out.

Shazam HBOMAX

This has been the best movie I've seen this weekend. So far. And I think this is easily the best DC movie period. Besides Man of steel and Justice league(synder cut) For anybody that has not seen this I would recommend this movie.

That kid's a good actor - Jack Dylan Grazer. He co-starred on this short-lived series a handful of years back. It didn't last long, but we thought it was pretty good. Had some funny moments and a cool format jumping between the ages of 14, 40, and 65.

Me, Myself & I is an American television sitcom created by Dan Kopelman that aired on CBS. The series stars Bobby Moynihan, Jack Dylan Grazer, John Larroquette, Brian Unger, Jaleel White, Kelen Coleman, Mandell Maughan, Christopher Paul Richards, Reylynn Caster, and Skylar Gray.

The series premiered on September 25, 2017. It was pulled from CBS's lineup after the first six episodes ranked last in the ratings among the network's Monday-night sitcom lineup. It was the first network television cancellation of the 2017–18 television season.[1] The show was not renewed for a second season,[2][3] and the remaining episodes of the series were burned off during the summer of 2018, concluding on July 21, 2018.

The show follows the life of Alex Riley, an inventor, businessman and Chicago Bulls fan, at three points in his life: as a 14-year-old who moves with his mother to Los Angeles in 1991 to live with his new stepfather and stepbrother; as a 40-year-old dealing with the breakup of his marriage and being a single father in the present day, while trying to navigate his way out of "inventor's block"; and as a 65-year-old in 2042 who has just retired from his immensely successful company and reconnected with his childhood love.[4]

More guns than sweets

PRAISE: I can tell writer Ehud Lavskiand director Navot Papushado
loved Halle Berry's character assassin Sofia from “John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum”because in this story about a dangerous assassin reuniting with her mother and her lethal associates to take down a ruthless crime syndicate and its army of henchmen to protect an 8 year old girl we not only get 1 or 2 tough as nails ladies but....5 !!
Karen Gillan as Sam, an assassin does well with her deadpan almost expressionless performance
Paul Giamatti is great in everything he does.
Lena Headey ,Carla Gugino,Michelle Yeoh,Angela Bassett all bring something to the table as the aforementioned ladies.
There's some great gunplay and kills, good one liners and stand out action sequences. I didn't think the stylishness was overdone but just right plus it's a great looking movie.

PROBLEMS: For a couple of the hand to hand combat sequences I'm not sure why they decided to shoot it in a sped up and slow speed mix that made the sequences look like silly slapstick.
I felt like to much time was wasted on some silly moments instead of story and character developement.
I felt like I was being hit over the head with a basic familial trope throughout the film.

This was probably the best GI Joe movie, but that's not saying much, because it's still not good. The fighting is horrible to look at, from a lot of it being at night to the angles and shaky cam. And the story? Dude went from a street fighter to a ninja in the snap of a finger. The background didn't make much sense. I was bored at times. This franchise is worse than Transformers. And they keep wasting Raid dude in movies. It was cool seeing dude from Spartacus again. I don't think Crazy Rich Asians dude is that great and Warrior dude was overacting like crazy and annoying me.

I saw these on the same day. I thought it was cool. I didn't know what to expect. I try to avoid trailers, because a lot is given away. This kept me entertained after being annoyed by Snake Eyes. It had some comedy I didn't expect. It probably should have ended 10 minutes early and let the viewer use their imagination.

I love this movie.

I love the emotions and confusion of the characters because it feels authentic.

This is a new flick that just debuted on Netflix this week. It is a Vampire/Thriller flick that plays out better than I expected.

The movie focus' on a female vampire stuck on a plane with hijackers with her son. The first 6 minutes of the film starts out showing the end, from there for the next 20 minutes its a slow burn. After that it picks up in pace and the chick goes into full vampire mode around the 55 min mark. The movie continues on a good fast pace from there being it is entirely on a airplane. The movie amps up big time in the last 15 minutes. Thru-out the movie there are quick scenes giving the origin of the vampire.

It is a 2 hour movie that is done well, whoever produced and directed it did there homework on from prior films like this and knew what not to do and not to copy and it shows. It does kind of copy a famous scene from the original "Night of The Living Dead" dealing with racism at the start and the end that I noticed.

For the gay agenda trackers, there is a gay male flight attendant, but it does not play out like you think and he turns out to be one of the best characters of the film.

They somewhat left it off for a sequel.

The film is from Germany and Netflix has it dubbed in English. The English speaking characters speak their roles in English.

Synopsis

When a group of terrorists hijacks an overnight transatlantic flight, a mysteriously ill woman must unleash a monstrous secret to protect her young son.

Yeah, this was good. I went into it making "Vamps on a Plane" jokes and ended up really enjoying it. The character development was excellent. It was a good story despite being limited by the confines of a plane.

Kingdom - Ashin Of The North
2021

7.5/10

This is a prequel to the "Kingdom" zombie series. Netflix has it labeled as a episode, but it plays out like a movie being it is a hour and a half long.

The movie explains the origin of what is causing the outbreak. The first part of the film deals with Ashin as a young girl and the 2nd part deals with her as a adult prior to the events in the series. The main plot is explained in text after the opening credits. It is written in Korean so if you DL from somewhere, you need to make sure there are subtitles.

The movie is a slow burn in some parts, but the story should keep you interested if you are a fan and familiar with the series.

Synopsis

The deceased king rises and a mysterious plague begins to spread; the prince must face a new breed of enemies to unveil the evil scheme and save his people.

Major Grom: Plague Doctor
2021

7.5/10

This is a new flick that debuted this week. Its a action/thriller that played out better than what I expected.

The premise is nothing new. While watching you will see a slight similarity to "The Dark Knight Rises" except it plays out differently.

Action and SFX are ok. The film is from Russia and it's filmed in and around the St. Petersburg area. All the location scenes thru-out are top notch and the movie looks great visually because of it.

The start of the film is full blown action. Pay attention because it also does some character development on how the main character does his thing. It is repeated at the end of the movie.

The opening credit roll is CGI animated and looks great visually.

After that the film takes a slow burn to it, but because of how it looks and how the story plays out, it should keep you interested. Around the 55 minute mark it begins to pick up pace until the end.

There is a animation sequence for the first end credit roll. You will need to watch it cuz it answers the question of the 12 Refrigerator's in a humorous way to list the actors and production crew. (You will understand if you watch the film).

After that there is a mid-credit scene to set it up for a potential sequel/storyline.

After the end credits play, there is after credit scene to set it up for a potential sequel/storyline.

The movie is in Russian and Netflix has it dubbed in English. Subtitles used for signage. My only fault is there is a part of the film where the screen is flooded with social media posts and you can't read them cuz there are no subtitles.

The movie runs just over 2 hours.

Synopsis

When a masked vigilante's killing spree throws a city into chaos, a renegade detective and his rookie partner are the only ones who can stop it.

I need to get caught up on series again soon. Was away for a few days. Did check out 2 good docs though -

- Summer of Soul

and

- The Last Cruise

Summer of Soul delivered, as expected. Great.

The Last Cruise was an eye opener. Only downfall is that it was short at 40 minutes. Despite the quick running time, it was impactful. I added the additional Youtube link (CNA Insider - haven't watched it yet - it's a bit longer than the HBO documentary).
