Simone Biles out of the Olympics

Bro...

All of us Black folks have PTSD at this point

All of us

And the fact that we as a community up until recently

completely dismissed mental health as white people stuff

We are depicted in all forms of media as sub human, without a full range of emotions and not capable of feeling real pain

Then imagine as Black women in the spotlight?

Speaking UP for your people representing for your people

And still getting attacked by many of those same people

I cannot even begin to fully understand what that is like

true

You want Simone Biles, who is obviously not in the right mental state, to risk personal injury because of what some cave bitch did 25 years ago?
More like if some cave bitch can do it then a sista can do it too.

it's not obvious that she's not in the right mental state...that's why the announcement was so surprising. An as for personal injury put it this way..

imagine if Dominique Dawes had landed a must need vault on one leg after a major sprain...to help her team win gold
GRvPV3.gif

you'd say that she was the toughest, baddest black woman you EVER saw with incredible HEART to gut it out.

and 25 years later a white bitch comes along BREEZING thru the competition and suddenly after a few shakey performances PULLS OUT OF THE FINAL for mental health issues.....you'd said that was the weakest bitch on two legs you ever saw and how white bitches always pull that lame game...

you KNOW you would say that....I would say that...EVERYONE one bgol would say that. Don't even bother to dispute it

so Simone is going out like THIS???? LIKE THIS??? c'mon son:smh::smh::smh:

Kerri Strug injured herself..she COULD have said I hurt my ankle I can't do it but she sucked that shit up..stuck her LAST vault, got her medal and RETIRED... it was the LAST TIME she had to do anything like so there was no point in NOT pulling out the stops.

Simone has been doing this shit since she was 7...she knows how to fall.. it's ALL a very calculated risk...she just needed to fight thru that shit.

but this is NOT new for her...she BEEN in the spot light and been setting standards....she did this in 2016....she was blowing the competition away since then on up thru the trials...whats changed now that would fuck with her head?? (in your guesstimation)

Geechie fag right now

you are truly a moron...no seriously..

IDGAF about Russia getting the gold...

I don't agree with that dumbass calling her a selfish sociopath...dumbass

I'm shocked and disappointed that Simone couldn't find it within HERSELF to get in the right headspace to perform. I said it before you cunt muscle that because she such an elite athlete that even at HALF SPEED she's not better than most...she better than ALL OF THEM. BUT that asshole is right in one regard..she just needed to check the boxes on her routines and the others could have pulled out the rest...she just needed to hold her part DOWN..nothing more...no superduper gymnast shit...just decent performances and the let the others pull their weight.

She was having her WORST performances out there and STILL leading on the scoreboard...are you kiddin me????:oops::oops:

I'm disappointed for her cuz this is a blemish on her legacy that could have been avoided.

Simone lost the eye of the tiger...its really that simple. :smh: :smh: :smh:

whatever it is?

Its serious

and I think she far exceeded the measurement to be questioned

She EARNED the right for us to chill on this one

Naomi too

Serena in that class Lebron, Phelps AOC, Chadwick (RIP) and many teachers, janitorial, doctors and nurses etc who worked so hard in this pandemic

Now THAT being said

I am NOT from the school of well now EVERYONE gets to say

well it was a mental health issue - I aint doing it.

NOPE.

Can''t BE THAT either

All I am saying in THIS SPECIFIC CASE?

Yeah she gets that.

She EARNED that

and in the future?

OTHERS do get the CONSIDERATION of sympathy for mental health

I LIKE that is being CONSIDERED and RECOGNIZED

ESPECIALLY in BLACK FOLK

but it is NOT gonna be an automatic.

And I can say this cause we give white folks MORE completely unearned benefit of the doubt on MUCH more serious matters than gymnastics.

Sorry. I am a psychologist. Mental health is no excuse to opt out of the competition unless she suffers from major depression with suicide ideation. If we are talking about anxiety, mental toughness is part of the game. Hence, coming back for individuals will reveal that she just caved under pressure.

She didn't need to stick out

Her legacy is cemented. She's old at this point.

Everything she accomplishes is whipped cream
then why go? she could have/should have retired last year....going out like this is weak sauce...and i know that sounds like trolling but its not..after all she's been thru to get to this point only to back off mid competition not due to physical injury is just an off note to end on...I hope she can do the individual at least

Did you actually investigate anything?

Because she wanted too....she's a competitor...and also for the Larry Nassir shit and how she doesn't want them to be able to sweep it under the rug, because all the victims are no longer competing...so there's no reason to discuss it and the cover up.

and she's stronger than you'll be....and has accomplished more and is better in life than your re at anything.

What’s weird is that there’s more pressure in individuals, in my opinion.

We’ll see what happens.

If she wasn’t feeling it she wasn’t feeling it, it happens. I think it was more emotional health than mental health. I doubt she has a clinical issue.

I’m not going to try to psychoanalyze her or her issues, just thinking in general terms

i don't understand why it is not a fair comparison.

It's not to me

It's forced.

Everything isn't so simple and neat

Real life is messy and complicated

Jordan and Brady ok

In this comparison WHEN EXACTLY are they playing in their career?

Cause Simone barely 24 is already considered the goat

Those 2 were not

She mastered team and individual in her sport

If she didn't feel "right" for whatever reason and in this specific event

her 1st bad outing already put the team in the hole

So you want an athlete to play when they not ready physically or mentally

and the whole team lose...

Over ego?

So if Jordan lost the flu game he a quitter?

If Pippen played with the migraine he now the most competitive ever?

Brady plays with a concussion and they lose...

Is he selfish or a warrior ?

My point is situations are unique

Her being a 24 yr old young black woman with the federation is against her, the sport is trying to change the RULES against her, she was sexually assaulted, she is ALREADY considered the BEST EVER IN HER SPORT.

She already won numerous GOLD MEDALS for her team and country. She is a multiple champion.

And a loud social activist who has to battle THOSE jerks, too.

how the hell is all that comparable to Jordan or Brady not coming out at halftime in a championship game?

I think Simone knows herself enough for us to at least concede WE have no damn idea what it is like to be HER...

Or the best in the world at ANYTHING.

when MJ, Tiger, Lebron, Serena, Brady, Beyonce, Stevie Wonder etc...

Some of the best to ever do it

Say she was "wrong" ?

Then I'm gonna at least listen.

But I have enough experience as a human being to understand this young woman who we ALL don't even know

says she was hurting

To respect it.

I know its her life and her decision and more power to her....but I was really looking forward to watching her stick it in their fucking faces and get at least one more move named after her and years later when other chicks start doing HER MOVES and get higher scores for them they'd have to go back to this time and change her scores to what she should have had and we'd all see just how far ahead of the pack she REALLY was.

The fact that she couldn't dig down to find it to do that is just like....damn :smh::sad::sad::sad:

It's weird as fuck when people who need competed at a high level in anything...judge someone who competes in front of the world and exposes themselves

Muthafuckas can't handle the stress of a drivers test...but will judge someone competing in front of the world against the best in the world

You muthafuckas are weird, because you came from behind playing someone in Madden you know what it's like to be her

Damn why didn't I just write this?

None of us have got the love, endorsements, and benefits that come from the life she has chosen either though.

You get the love for being who you are, you get the judgement for not delivering at the highest level.

Damn why didn't I just write this?

Man it's annoying as hell, when we jump on other black people....instead of supporting them

What about Jordan....Brady....Michael Jordan...people actually can't see why those are stupid comparisons?

She's sitting up there in a empty fuckin stadium...which is weird...everyone is looking at her, nobody else, dolo....and she has a minute or two just to think...before she vaults or takes the beam. She fucks up once she can cost her team everything they've worked for...some might not ever get another chance, or worse she could badly injure herself.

You can't compare that to Jordan, because once he gets on the court it's natural. If he has a bad game, he's getting more. He's not practicing for one game for four/five years. Maybe you can say a free throw line situation is similar...but everything is like that in gymnastics. I bet golfers can relate to what she's going through, because that's another sport that is just as mental and you can get caught up in your thoughts and overthink.

honestly what black FATHER would be ok and NOT disappointed at their kid who has won and can do it..suddenly NOT want to play in the middle of a competition...now all of sudden everyone is cliff huxtable and mike brady (brady bunch) and sooo understanding and acceptin now

if that was your daughter in middle school doing that they be like GOD DAMMIT:pain: and they know it :giggle::giggle::giggle:

That ain't a fair comparison

You can't quit on your team esp at this crucial stage. Also, it's a bad example to all of the younger people looking up to her. It's quitting. I get mental health is important and the pressure is on another level. They have sports psychologists for this very reason. I feel like quitting is lame.

This comparison is moronic

and you probably read it somewhere and thought it was valid
I am old enough to remember when people used to say “there’s no ‘I’ in team”. Apparently, that now only applies to the bag carriers and journeymen and women of sport.

OK that is insane I JUST had this conversation

And I don't go personal on the main anymore

But I will say this

I JUST had this conversation and my oldest told me...

you would NOT have let me do that.

I was legit SHOCKED and kinda hurt

Why would you say something like that?

and of course she gave a laundry list of sports, academics and social situations were I had in fact gave her the you can't quit etc etc speech

And then I had to chill take a deep breath and think

I said and those times when you looked me in my eyes and said Daddy? I can't.

What did I do?

she said you were ready to tell everyone to go to heck.

I smiled and gave her a hug and said because

I know YOU I love YOU you EARNED that

and even if you were about to take a rocket to Mars and at the last moment told me

Dad I can't.

I would hold you hug you ...

and then SMACK the back of your head and yell shout you better get your ass on that rocket you not embarrassing me in front of these white folk!

And then?

If I looked in your eyes...

and I could see you could REALLY not do it?

I would fight EVER SINGLE PERSON there to make sure you didn't have to go.

But you WOULD have to face the cameras and EXPLAIN best you could

I got another hug and she said I love you dysfunctional daddy

I love you to dysfunctional daughter.

I feel like her coaches and support system failed her....again (the first time was dr touchy mcfeely) not just her all of them....naomi, sha'carri etc ...no athlete should feel like theyre alone in that situation or theres no one they can reach out to.

But if Simone feels like its not fun anymore and she's not playing for herself there should have been people reminding her of why and how she got there and talking her thru that isolation.

Classifying athletic failure - physical or mental - as a health problem benefits no one. Elite performance at the highest level is hard. Failure, and fear of failure, is part of the struggle. We are all human and can sympathize, freaking out in a stressful situation is part of the human condition. People fail.

There is nothing wrong or abnormal going on here. This failure is the fault of Simone Biles. She let herself, her team, and her country down. Yes, that is a heavy burden; it is the one she carries. We still love, adore, and admire her as the greatest gymnast of all time, and hope she gets her mind right. But let's call this what it is.
