Andrew Yang for New York City Mayor

I don’t think it’s irrelevant at all. I think your background brings to the forefront your political beliefs.

And no I don’t live in NYC. I don’t think it’s that great of a city. But once in a while I drive up I95 and see how the lovely people of Brooklyn and Queens are doing.

Were you capable of voting in the democratic Primary this election?

Bro a job is a job not a political ideology. I consider myself to be a Democrat. I have no respect for anyone that voted for Donald Trump to be president. On the other hand Deblasio has been such a shitty mayor and the democratic city council people are so idiotic that I'm open to having a republican mayor. Honestly I don't had be respect for the people that voted for Deblasio either.

I had to work overtime so I wasn't able vote but Adams would have definitely got my vote.

Crime in this country has been wild the last couple years. Have you ever witnessed crime like this before? Is crime the worst it has ever been?

I really can't speak on the rest of the country because I've only lived in New York. Crime and homelessness has gotten progressively worse. At the same time the mayor hasn't done anything to stop it. If anything he's been more loose with crime. I wouldn't complain if I the mayor create policies geared towards fixing crime and homelessness in the city.

This probably hasn't been the worse that New York has been in its history. But this is the worse that New York has been since I was allowed to venture out in the streets back in the mid 90s.

Again does anyone from New York City want to interject and tell us that Deblasio has done a good job dealing with crime, homelessness, high rent or the city's budget? In fact does anyone want to say that Deblasio has done a good job with anything outside of getting rid of stop and frisk?

The mayor's wife made over a billion dollars dissappear. No one can account for the money. Why are people acting like this didn't happen?

You must not live in NY. Crime is out of control. Homeless people and the mentally ill are all over the place. Public transliteration is dangerous as fuck, especially the trains. The criminal justice system is pretty much catch and release now. People commit violent crimes such as shootings, robbery and assault then they are given ridiculously low bail and released back into the neighborhoods up until they murder someone. There's no reason that your son should be killed by a guy that got arrested for stabbing a woman. Then arrested again for shooting someone while out on bail. Finally he murders your son while he's on bail for both cases.

Everything is ridiculously expensive including rent. People are leaving the city in droves which is running up the prices of houses upstate and in long Island. So now people are leaving the state altogether.

Oh yeah, the city is pretty much broke. Deblasio was spending money like a madman. Dude put up over a billion dollars for his wife's thrive nyc program that was supposed to help New Yorkers with mental health issues. No one can account for what was done with the money.

I'd love to hear what other New Yorkers on the board think. Since the people you know say that New York city is doing good.

Which category of crime is "out of control"?

Take a look for yourself.

For the month of May 2021, overall index crime in New York City rose 22% compared with May 2020, driven by a 46.7% increase in robbery (1,182 v. 806) and a 35.6% increase in grand larceny (2,848 v. 2,101). Felony assault saw a 20.5% increase compared to May 2020 (1,979 v. 1,643), and shooting incidents increased to 173 v. 100 in May 2020 (+73%). Burglary was the only index crime to post a reduction – down 21.8% (942 v. 1,205) in May 2021, compared to the previous year. There were 37 murders in May 2021, the same as May 2020.

These numbers reflect 2020 lockdown vs. 2021 open city.
It's not good for determining a spike in crime.
What are the 2021 numbers vs. 2 ,3 or 4 years ago?

Crime wasn't horrible prior to 2020. There was a huge spike in the beginning of 2020 and it has continued to rise. The city hasn't fine anything to deal with it. Even the Gouverneur was talking shit about the mayor and telling him to get his city under control.
