It’s confidence and coaching. Ben can shoot free throws, when practicing. He can shoot 3’s, when practicing.
Unfortunately his coaches allowed him to be scared shooting jumpers in games and didn’t force him to shoot jumpers or grow.
Embiid’s a 7 footer who shoots 3’s and free throws well. He has Seth Curry on his team who’s a good\great shooter also. It’s up to Ben to get better and up to his coaches to push him.

I don’t think I have ever seen a starting NBA point guard get reduced to nothing at the end of every game. Even Rondo managed to stay in at the end of the games as a primary ball handler and he was just as bad of a free throw shooter.
