All of this not to mention that the tax payers are on the hook for the settlement not the police. The police beat your ass and then use your property tax dollars to "settle" with you for it. Only in America...

in cases like this typically the city/county/state pays for the plaintiff's lawyers and the IRS doesnt tax the settlement.
