Better Actor Ving Rhames or Larry Fishburne

Lavar Burton played in a TV movie called “Dummy,” where he was a deaf and mute guy that got raped in jail. That scene was real fucked up.

I thought I would just put that out there.

Yo..

just rewatched it.

OH my lawd.

sidebar...

Lavar burton may be one of the most under appreciated actor of his generation

Howard E. Rollin is the most underrated in my opinion. That brother definitely didn’t get enough roles.

However, I don’t disagree with Lavar. Real good actor.

When I say that I mean as a ONE HIT wonder kind of actor with Roots

I would MAYBE but him with Mark Hamil

but Lavar has done SO MUCH TV and film and stage and drama roles

Hamil I think with his mastering voice acting...

I would just say two men identified with ONE THING really have had a FULL and respectable very career.

This is disrespectful.
No it's not at all,LF has had the better roles for whatever reasons and don't forget what he did on the Peewee Herman show, a cowboy character .Plus he was a child actor,Cornbread and that army movie so he's seasoned like a pot of something good.I am also shocked to know that he was born in 61,I thought he would be older than that.

Ving is cool and done some standout roles but he just doesn't have the years and he more than likely had to do certain roles to get away from the gangster character that they always want him to play.

Ving only had one role where he outshined Fishburne.
Ving as Don King was Oscar worthy.
Fishburne catalog is deep.

And as a side note, to this day, I still say he really fucked Ellen Barkin in Bad Company

If I ever interview him that is gonna be one of my main questions.

Damn that's good

See we need to set criteria

Cause some of these OGs the studios wouldn't LET them do certain roles.

So for me it's tough to compare a forefather a trailblazer to a beneficiary.

its almost impossible to have a 1 to 1 comparison when it comes to movies and actors.

I ran a tournament on my FB page on the top films from the 70s one time. Many people complained that the films didn’t match up fairly, but I found that it almost makes you critically think.

For example, Coming to America versus Boyz N the Hood. Two totally different films, but supreme classics. If you give a poll and tell people they have to choose between those two films, they’ll lose their shit. Lol

Not even close.
Fishburne is in the elite class with Denzel W., S. L. Jackson, and Will Smith imo

But I can see both sides

Both Classics but in so many different ways

But at the academy awards no distinction between those performances

Any other award show there is

I couldn't compare those 2 films

But boys vs menace vs juice vs new jack

I get

I can compare all spike movies or Tarantino even Ernest Dickerson

But those two?

No way.

However Coming to America wins

For the barbershop scene alone.

That’s what’s so great about two films you can’t compare. You have to search for something to make sense for you to make a decision. Like you just did with the barbershop scene. Lol.

Folks would legit get mad when I would post something like Claudine versus Foxy Brown.

Or Cooley High versus The Mack.

They would say “that’s not fair” or “I refuse to choose.”

See it's that Vulcanized mind at work again..

That does NOT make it great

Just frustratingly difficult

Which is exactly what LIFE is on a daily basis.

Those posts were also social experiments to see people’s decision making process. Those that complain versus those that make decisions.

Do you see the connection?

People looks for fairness in places where fairness doesn’t exists. Yet, life shows us daily that most decisions we make doesn’t have shit to do with fairness, so way is it so important for us to want it?
