Do you have solar panels on your roof?

My neighbors got solar panels put up on their roof and it got me thinking about it. Anyone here got solar panels? Do you think they're worth it? How have they affected your bill??

Also found this as I started doing my research.

Yep, but I pay around $160 per month for it. I never really have much of an electric bill though. I guess I feel better about trying to help the environment. I had a $25 bill one month over the Summer for electric and gas. Nirvana. 5,000 sq ft home and ran AC 24 hours a day at cold temps.

When I had a bunch of people over for Thanksgiving for a few weeks my bill was around $275 but my asshole bro constantly ran the gas fireplace in the media room.

What is this $160 monthly fee? Is that the credit payment for the installation or is that some kind of maintenance fee?

the solar company installs them and maintains the system for 20yrs. After those 20yrs the system is yours. In NJ, I pay $90/monthly to the solar company. My electric bill has shrank down considerably in the summer, not so much in the winter. It’s always been in the $300 range....after solar I’ve seen bills as low as $80, and as high as $150.

It all depends on how many panels you can fit on your roof. My uncle has a huge roof, he has enough panels to cover 100% of his usage during the summer months. I’ve seen him get bills with credit on them, in the winter his bill is usually $30-40....

Yes, my bill went down alot. My bill in the summer months used to be around $600/mo. Went down to $200. I also have two ac units. I purchased my panels, didnt finance. I bought them thru Vivint.

I heard it’s bullshit unless you just want to help the environment. You basically pay to lease the equipment so your bill may only be 12 dollars but the cost to lease is from 150 to 300 per month depending on House size

Damn thats why you buy the shit.

add to that the cost of maintenance, and the cost of replacing panels if something ever goes wrong.........

doing it through a solar company they take care of everything.
Can you have solar in NY? What happens when it snows and buries that shit?

yes, but it depends on the roof, age of the roof, trees and which direction the house is facing. I haven't had an issue with snow, they're angled ever so slightly so most things just slide off. In the event they get covered, the system would behave as a regular system with no panels.

There's a company that was going around at one point showing you how to save money in the home and lower your bills. They would also install panels for free and was explaining how the panels would generate so much energy that the electric company would use your energy and pay you back.

It smelled to me like BS to just get me into some finance agreement to buy solar panels, so I told them thanks but no thanks.

From what y'all saying, lowering my bills? I already pay $50 a month right now when I switched to Constellation in Houston. Not sure what summer will be like, but they dirt cheap if you are under 1000kwh. Never seen my bill this cheap, like ever.

I wanna get a shed in my backyard and put solar panels on that to connect back to my home. This way I wouldn't have to worry about any inconvenience if work ever needs to be done to the roof on my home.

It is good you posted this. But just like the electric car technology they make sure they make money off of it or it does not exist. That is why it took electric cars so long to come back after they outlawed them. But for over 15 years they have had solar panels on the roof of certain rich white people. Shit in 2 countries the rich whites have a program where they sell the excess energy to the utility companies for a small check each month.
All and all you learn the unimportant stuff unless they have you either controlled or brainwashed. Free energy was here when blacks were in their right mind and before other races were grafted from us. We did not start out primitive. Weather we know it or not life was more advance in the beginning when it was only blacks on the face of the earth than it is now. The worship of war did not rule back then either.
But the main thing for them to get rid of was our natural powers. We recognize Jesus but we recognize him the way whites tell it. But there was a time when all blacks could do what Jesus did and more. The story of the Anunnaki is different than how whites tell it.

It cost me about $24 K in Texas during the Obama administration when the government was allowing Solar credit on the tax returns.

In-conjunction with the local electric company because we are providing power back to the grid. Electric companies was getting kick backs from the government at the time.

Also the electric company paid up to $10K of the installation cost and you have to be with them for least 8-10 years. They paid $8900 for my installation.

I had two loans with the Solar company. One was for $7000 with "0" payments for 12 months because I would got a $7K Solar TAX Credit. Paid that off with the tax return.

The 2nd loan was for $6800 and that was about $72 a month.

So basically, I'm only paying $72 a month.

Electric bill is about $35 - $150 in south Texas.

My neighbors are complaining about high 200s - 400s electric bills.

I think the Trump administration has cut the Solar Tax or not renewed it. Also banded or is blocking panels from coming from China.

Not providing the credits to the electric companies.

I'm just going to do it. I've been talking about it for a while. I got a quote for $22500. I'm going to attempt to get him closer to 20,000, if that happens I'm going to just do it . I got the cash, so I don't have to finance

Any updates? For those that have it, do you notice any difference since going solar? Anyone ever had to have them removed and/or put back on? Any costs to worry about later on aside from the financing? What happens if there's damage?

Yeah, this broad came to the crib and quoted me 50 Racks, and wanted my decision that same day. Fuck that cowboy shit!
Tesla?
Tesla is so much better than Sunrun. My last house was 5,000 sq ft. This one is around 10k. Solar is $400/mo but I pay $600/mo but I’ll probably pay off this summer.

I had an electric bill of $1.73 one month. Tesla powerwalls are the real game changer. I use solar from 6 am until 2 am.

I’ve ordered 2 more powerwalls in case electricity gets knocked out in the winter. Maybe snow might cover the panels.

This way, we’ll be able to be self sufficient for 2-3 days regardless of the season or weather. Just sun power.

Nah Man, some no name upstart that was just getting started in my area. I have been hearing very good things about the Tesla Powerwalls. I'm going to look into them and see whats up.

Yeah, the app alone is priceless. I always know what is running in the house based on our energy consumption. Very accurate and in real time. If I turn something on or off it is immediately reflected in the usage graphs.
