Yes, men also need to lose weight. But, we have to look at all of the numbers. First, black women are the most problematic at 80%. In fact black men are at 70% and white men are at 75%. In most cases, the squeaky wheel gets the oil.
This is a nationwide crisis affecting all people. Unfortunately, black women are the most affected.
The fact is, if we ignored black women and focused on any other group, people would complain about that as well.
Because 80 does not equal 70.
Regarding being overweight:
Black women: 80%
White men: 75%
Black men: 70%
White women: 65%
But, when it comes to being obese:
Black women: 56%
Black men: 38%
White women: 38:
White men: 38%
Over half of all black women are considered obese. We can argue bias regarding how the bmi is measured. But what can not be denied is comparatively, black women have a higher percentage of fat as compared to all other demographics and as compared to the national average.
We need to acknowledge the problem and work to apply common sense solutions.
