I disagree on both points. There were great guards in that era but you have to remember the game was no where near guard friendly as it is now. It was a big man's game, guards back then weren't jacking up 10+ 3s a night & fishing for fouls. They did their scoring near the rim while getting clobbered. Thats why the more physical ones like Jordan & Drexler had success. The majority of the guards today wouldn't be putting up the numbers they put up now back then.

The guard in that era wernt nearly as skilled as the ones today, with the exception of the all time greats . If we can admit that the bigs of that era were superior to todays big I just dont understand how we cant do the same for the guards of this era. You guys are blinded by your childhood nostalgia. You are literally defending guard play from a era that had guys like Jeff Hornachek, John starks, Dan Marjle, Danny Ainge, and Hersey Hawkins making all star appearances. There simply is no sound argument for that era being superior in guard and wing play. Period.
