Will it become a permanent thing or are you going back to your job site?

How is it working from home? Are or were your kids at home from school due to Covid?

Saving money in commute expenses?

Personally I go out of the house, but my wife stays home.

1 in 4 Americans will be working remotely in 2021, survey reveals (cnbc.com)

  • 1 in 4 Americans will be working remotely in 2021, according to Upwork’s “Future of Workforce Pulse Report” released on Tuesday.
  • By 2025, 36.2 million Americans will be working remotely, an 87% increase from pre-pandemic levels, the study revealed.
  • Now that employers are more comfortable with remote work they are more likely to tap freelancers to fill talent gaps.

We were told this will become our new normal. I'm in Tech, so only need to go in when physically required to address hardware issues.

I'm single no kids, girl doesn't live with me.

I have way more money monthly because of working from home.

Utilities haven't gone up much either.

My job is so fuckin ass backwards.

I’m at home now teaching remote, but next month I return to campus...where I will still be teaching remotely. Goddamn faghots. Makes no sense.

I’ve saved so much in gas it’s almost criminal that they are calling us back in to do the same shit I’m doing at the crib successfully.

You know what...fuck it. I’m not about to rant about this shit. Just know I’m changing my situation.

“Working off of mobile devices” has increased due to covid in certain aspects of my biz and other biz opportunities ... there still is money opportunities for my physical presence for certain situations.. many clients want me to bring certain avenues back where I had to be more hands on but I have created alternative scenarios that I can profit off of by giving them diff routes they can choose for the time being.. will eventually bring back the more in person experience but for now enjoying the freedom of being more laid back on things I’m doing

Hell no. They're not talk about making it permanent. I'm working from home right now and the department head is hell-bent on sending us back. He can't fucking wait

This motherfucker said, because you guys have been so great during the tele work period, we are going to bump up telework to 4 days per pay period when everything goes back to normal and we can bring you all back in to the office (we are all now working telework 10 days a pay period)

We might have to do hotdesking (fucking gross, having some strange fucker sitting at my desk the day before I get there. Who knows if they wash or smoke (yuk) OR if they just go around touching everything in sight like a fucking toddler or worse are one of those Republican Covid19 deniers

Oh, by the way do you guys know about the mouse Jiggler? You plug it into your laptop and your computer never goes to sleep so when you're working from home you don't have to be on your computer the whole time

I'm a DJ so I've mostly been working from home for the last 4 years. Not the gigs of course, but the rehearsals, library management, customer emails, rental car bookings, etc are all done in my bedroom.

I suppose I could get an office to do all that in, but what's the point?

Fully remote right now, not looking to return until first of the year and then we will do 3 days a week work from home. Our production in Informatics has increased and we’re now expanding

Yep. I set my alarm for 7:45 every morning oh, get up look at the schedule to see if there are any meetings. If not, I log on Microsoft teams and go to sleep until about 9 or 9:30 , then get up and work

With the mouse Jiggler, your computer never goes to sleep so my Microsoft team's status stays in the green. They think I'm there

If I get a migraine, I just go lay down. I don't have to ask my boss for sick leave. As long as my orders are taken care of no one knows a thing

Remote for now.

The job is making a push to get folks back into the office. Makes no sense since we are doing better than ever. Best year ever in the companies history last year, and on pace for a better year in 2021 in these times.

Like most I've saved a ton on commuting, and other expenses related to going into the office.

I live 45 minutes from my job. I save a helluva lot of time, money AND stress not driving. Plus I get 2 hours of my life back every day

But those assholes can't wait to send us back. So what the building is paid for, you really want to ruin morale for a building?

By the end of summer they will be doing the same here. They didn't renew the lease on one of the buildings and told us a few days would be mandatory WFH but when in office we would be hotdesking. Aside from the first 2 days with everyone going remote its literally been smooth sailing so makes no sense

I have been remote for over a year now. I have an easy commute on the train and bus, but I actually dislike this office. I told my homie in Virgina this is the first office in NYC that I worked at with NO bad bitches. He replied "That is one thing New York is known for, having bad bitches at work".

In saying that, they want us back in the office July 1st on some twice a week cohort shit. The good effects are I saved a bunch of money and lost 25 pounds not eating out for lunch everyday.

Been working from home for over a year now. Supposed to go back in July but that might change. Was originally supposed to go back this month. I don't care either way. They purchased all the equipment we need to work from home and we get to keep it. Got a nice little office set up.

Kids are still home. Seems like every other day I get an email from their schools saying someone has covid. Not sure when or if they will ever have to go back at this rate.

I think in the whole time I've been home, I had to get gas maybe 10 times or less. I don't buy lunch. So yeah, money saved. Only thing I miss is paying for team outings with my credit card and getting reimbursed. I was making money from the cash back incentive.

I've been working remote for about 4 years now so COVID forcing remote work had no impact on my routine. If I was to leave my job, it would definitely be an adjustment to waking up early and dealing with traffic to be in an office environment.

Been home since March of last year.
Unless I have a meeting or an onsite visit I don't go anywhere.
I really don't think they are going to ask me to go back to my office at all.
I travel out of star a lot but even that was impacted by covid, its really the only down side that I have had to deal with.

they are actually doing a lot of construction on one of our campuses, so everyone would have been remote anyway. i guess they trying to do alot up upgrades to keep up with the type of atmosphere that Apple, Google, & FB have for their employees onsite. i believe they will be allowing people to return around September, but I will continue to work remotely. i've gotten alot more comfortable and save a lot more money working from home.

Most ad agencies are saying they'll revisit having people come in to the office at the end of 2021. What a lot of ad agencies are realizing is that with the nature of our business working in the office or from home using Teams or Slack work just fine. I'm ready to go back cause I miss the city but I'd only go back for 2 days out the week.

Working from home since last March usually from my bed. I've talked to two of my last places of employment. Both have said the future will be working remotely. One place when building opens back up will encourage most employees to work remotely.

Remote since 2017. I have only had to go back in that drama-filled office of mine 1 time in almost 4 years.

Since COVID there's only about 10% of our 2500 person workforce in office.
The best thing about COVID for our company is that we were given the green light to live where ever we wanted within the US. They had
a strict rule before that you had to live within two hours of the office. Now they see it's not necessary.

From what I understand, they are pushing for minimum staff in office even after the all clear.

Kind of wild, because they just built this huge office complex about 10 years ago. They are going to have to repurpose or rent out a huge office space area.

I don't ever intend to work in an office setting ever again. I haven't been sick or caught a cold since working from home (5 years).

Same here. I've been working 100% remote for about 5yrs and I have no intentions in going back. Shit, programmers SHOULD work from home; we don't need to be a fuckin' office. I've even been able to work a 2nd job from time to time. As someone else mentioned, the only issue with that is Zoom/Teams/Slack/WebEx mtg conflicts.

Fam, I bought a mouse jiggler on Amazon. That muphucka is the truth! Because most companies look at your idle time.

I was just talking to my wife who started a new job today. She did all 3 interviews and everything virtually. She is WFH except once a week field visits. I begged her to keep her old job and do both, because she had the opportunity and capacity.

My one regret after being home for a year is that I didn't get a second job as soon as possible and racked up some extra doe. It may be unethical, but not illegal. That is all the courts care about if it comes to it.

I am! Biggest concern is the company outsource the job to some Indian ninja for a next to nothing salary. I'm not staying in my field too long because I'm going back to school to switch into healthcare. But I tell my coworkers that they should be worried about this.

Overall I'm saving money WFH and I have a more time to myself on the weekends. I run my errands during my lunch break so my weekends are open. But pre pandemic, my weekend mornings and afternoons are for errands.
