Anyone investing heavily this year??

How much money did you lose/gain this past week?

  • Total voters
    30
  • Poll closed .
i have these two myself

A lot of folks would be better off having one of those as their core holding (at least 50%) and then have those other plays just be satellite holdings.

Need to hedge their bets better if they gonna rush some dude on YouTube and blame him for they bloody account

Also: having VOO AND VTI in the same portfolio is a bit redundant. You'd be better off choosing one or the other and concentrating the combined money in just the one.

Im sayin how hard is it to tell folks to put just one safehaven ETF in their portfolio as an insurance stash? VOO or VTI or VT or something?

I read IBD (Investor's Business Daily), one thing I learned you never buy a stock when it is going down, you wait until it settle then you buy when there is a confirm uptrend in the market. This buying at the dip is getting out of hand.

thats timing the market
and 9 times out of 10 people will get the bottom wrong.

All last week, people were posting that they were waiting for tesla to hit sub 500
before they jumped in.

That makes sense. I'm still learning the art of handling this situation my self..

Beyond my regular DCAing in my long term account (where I usually deposit the same amounts every 2 weeks no matter what), I'm kind of at that point.

Esp with my trading account: Im waiting for some momentum before I buy more of OR sell any of my current losers.

That's a little different when ppl are waiting for a specific price.
If TSLA decrease by $40 today why would you just jump in tomorrow?
I can understand someone adding more at a price that is lower or closer to their avg cost but I am talking about investors just getting in.
New buyers should have more patience, quit this whole FOMO and wait for an uptrend market....it is not about buying at the bottom.

In my trading account (I use Power ETrade), they have various widgets on the main screen. One of them that I've gotten into the habit of checking these days first thing is the "Market View", which gives a quick glimpse at how the overall market(s) are doing in real time (DJX, NDX, RUT, SPX).

This serves two purposes: (1) Helps me keep my sanity when my shit is down and I can see whether or not the overall market is down (or not); and (2) I can peep how the markets fluctuate in different climates.

What I've noticed -- and I realize this may not be news to most of the vets -- is that these broad market funds, while not the most exciting, are really important not only to have as a core holding, but to keep track of as a barometer for the health of the overall markets.

For example, I have SPYG in one of my portfolios. Of course the S&P has been poppin recently so that (and VOO, etc.) has been green. But they're so diversified that even when they are moving DOWN, the fall isn't really that big AND they are going to be the first instruments to really rebound from any dips because they represent the market as a whole. Unlike my penny stocks and fun money holdings that need the market to rebound before they even think of gettin up out of bed..

Just an observation...

If that's feasible by the end of the year, i'm either liquifying a credit card or taking out a loan of 10,000 dollars.

Man, this "crypto" was at 5 or 6 cents like last month!! With Elon Musk tweeting like a fool.

Shit at the beginning of the year it was less than a penny. Remember they said bitcoin was a joke too. I remember brothers posting bitcoin when it wasn't even a penny

I randomly heard about this when I came across an article about Mark Cuban using it in his arenas a few weeks ago. I wished I would've jumped on it then

One co-worker got me open about crypto currency. I joined Anchor usd as a joke and bought some dogecoin and litecoin.
They haven't been bad but I still don't have any metrics to invest funds except on hype.
I swear on anything dude was buying after youtube cheerleaders were getting squirrelly about it. Give me some FA or TA.

Damn.. these folks have Sain on the offensive. I guess folks have really been taking it "there" in the comments ("aka the VIP Section") :smh:

...Like I said before I think dude means well, and is successful in his own zone. But I think he needs to understand that not everyone (esp. the beginning investor) can move like he moves. From a capital standpoint, or financial literacy standpoint (to understand the basics of what's going on in the market, not to mention the investments that they are parking their money in).

I get it: a lot of folks don't want to do ANY kind of research and choose to depend on him for picks, entry and exit points and all that shit. But if leave your money in the hands of someone else, so to speak, the loss is on YOU. The part that is on him is two-fold, and I think both have to do with a bit of ego (even though he would never admit it):

(1) I think there's a part of him that enjoys being "right" on his plays that he gets a rush from being the hero when his homeruns leave the park...

(2) Have you even met someone that thinks they're a good teacher, but they really aren't? My old supervisor (now peer) was like that. He would be responsible for training new clerks, but wasn't the best communicator and took it personally when his instructions weren't being absorbed. I think Sain suffers from a bit of that. I know he mentors in his community, and he DOES know a lot about what he's doing on the investing tip, researching and what not. But I've watched enough of his videos to understand how folks could become confused trying to follow some of his instructions and moves too.

End of the day I think he's just doing too much right now. He should just go back to keeping it simple and giving us the scoop on the under the radar plays about to pop.. Folks should do their own due diligence and choose when to enter and exit. Cuz this dude fittna go crazy eventually and we gonna have to here a 4 min passive-aggressive dissertation every GD video

Id also add that last years historical bullish market has spoiled a lot of new investors. Literally anything you put money in was bound to make gains fairly quickly. This market is not like that and for some herein lies the frustration.

Sain recommended stocks last year and they jumped reasonably quickly. Now he could do the same and that stock could be in the red tomorrow.

This environment is weeding out those that are really in this for the long term and those that are not.

Is it too late to get into Dogecoin?

Never too late! However, The big question is where in the wave are we right now? Top of the wave? suggest it’s going to crash soon enough, settle, and eventually start peaking again.

I personally don’t have much in Crypto at all. But that’s something I’m going to change. Crypto seems to be one of those “investing” vehicles you throw some of your spare change at and don’t look at it for weeks.

Here’s a nice article and website that’s goes more in-depth on the subject

Thanks bro. I had signed up to coinbase and coinbase doesn't support dogecoin.
I am leery of signing up for another crypto selling app.

Robinhood say there may be problems buying Doge? Wtf? Has stuff like this happened before there were these apps? I just got into the stock game a couple of years ago and it was with using these apps.

i have no idea where to buy these weird coins

coinbase won't trade them...

where are y'all buying dogecoin ?

From studying history, I know the answer to be yes. People would think they were trading and the person executing the order would fuck up.

Anyone ever transfer a full account from one broker to another? If you have, how long does that shit take? Mine is from T Rowe Price to TD Ameritrade.
