Who the fuck watches the WNBA??

I think they need to make minor changes to the WNBA to get more viewers.
First I think they should get rid of the multicolored basketball and stick with the original orange basketball.
For me the multicolored ball visually cheapens the game to a gimmicky, novelty act akin to the Harlem Globetrotters, Who used the same type of multicolored basketball in their show.
I can watch a NCAA women's basketball game in it's entirety whereas I can only watch about 5 to 10 minutes of a WNBA game before I lose interest because of this very reason.

Secondly,

I think the WNBA should lower the rim by 2 inches or at least 1 inch so that we can see players posterize other players with slam dunks and alley oop dunks that will get more press and media coverage than usual.
an inch? man lower that shit to 9ft so these chicks can get loose.

Some of you niggaz done got your ankles broke by a broad. I can tell
I know X don't watch that shit.

Man I don't know about watching it consistently, but you can make some money playing DFS....Lower variances compared to NBA

Me. I love basketball. I'll watch squirrels hoop.

I love basketball too but I just can’t watch the WNBA

Like somebody else said when you have daughters that hoop it makes you appreciate the women's game more... especially on the college level. I remember when it was only UCONN and TN that were watchable. Now it's more entertaining all around. The WNBA is less entertaining to me compared to college.

Yeah it’s strange because I can watch a good college women’s team but can’t watch the WNBA which is made up of the best of the best women’s players

I just can't take women sports serious except track, don't give a fuck who is offended either. I remember they used to beg people to take Liberty tickets on 7th Ave in front of MSG. Literally give you as much as you want.

I went to one, it felt like how these Covid games feel. It was like maybe 200 people in there. They even gave away free popcorn, hot dogs, and sodas, and that wasn't enough to go again.

I’m still traumatized from going to my first girls high school basketball game, I think it took about 3 hours to play because all they would do is whoever had the ball ALL the players on the other team would just attack her trying to get the ball from. That shit was horrible and the thing is i still see the samething happen sometimes in the college game and when I gave the WNBA a chance when it first started

I haven't watched the WNBA since about 2001.
Once Cynthia Cooper retired, I stopped watching.
But when that shit first came out I watched because they had real hoopers.
People forget that when it first started, packed 17,000 seat venues were common for some teams.
Then the gays took over and drove out the straight fans who didn't want their kids exposed to those sights.

I don't think the WNBA women expect to make what the men make

But they currently make less than $200K on the average.

That's RIDICULOUS
That’s good money for 3 months of work and the better players hoop overseas and make millions. The WNBA has never made money and is only kept afloat because of the NBA.

the WNBA is a better product than men’s college basketball, however. One of the main reasons it doesn’t get support is because it pushes LGBT club membership and people don’t want to be bombarded with seeing bulldaggers play.

I’m not sure how. WNCAA (women’s basketball) is awful.

Everybody got great reply on the WNBA. Us men support the NBA and attend games. Even bring our wife/GF/Side piece to the games. Groupie women even attend games. But in the WNBA the women don’t even support them. Even a better question, when was the last time, your girl said the Mystic come on tonight? When was the last time your woman co-worker said did you see the Sparks game last night.

They don’t get paid because women don’t even support them!

I agree with two....dunking saved the NBA...or at least made the game waaay more exciting. The ability to play above the rim does have an impact.

I used to watch all the time and go to games when I was in LA. haven't really followed it since we moved. Still consider myself a Sparks fan even though Candace left

The WNBA’s biggest problem is that their own fellow women don’t support it. If they had women’s support they’d be fine, but they don’t.

Good point

The very very very first thing they need to do is decide/ figure out who their target audience is.

They will never ever be successful until this happens first.

This is why it's hard for them to get ad money.

It's always business first.

If you have a daughter, niece, sister, or cousin who has aspirations of hooping for real, you’ll watch it

I watched more in the 90s and early 2000s. They had some nice teams (Detroit was my squad!), and it seemed as if the players played a more pure form of ball. These days, their advertising is so weak, you can't figure out when a game's on unless you actively are looking for it.

My thing is, I love basketball, no matter who's playing it. But it does seem to me that even though women's basketball has evolved over the years, the style of play isn't as exciting as it once was initially. Yes, you have your great players, but it seems like the role players in the WNBA's earlier days were better.

But If I'm not doing anything, and I happen to come across it on TV, I'll watch some of the game because I love basketball.

I watch it, didn’t use to but when you have a 9th grade daughter that I train in basketball. You start to understand it better, looking at the competition.

A lot of women can’t play like men for some odd reason..I’m talking about the movement the way they dribble/shoot it’s all looks unorthodox. There’s a few that can ball though.

she plays for UCONN. chick can ball i give her that.
