I think driving a car is more dangerous for kids. CTE is legit but have yet to see anyone who wasn't in the NFL suffering from it, at least to this extent if that is the case. It seems like you have to play a LOT of football to get to that level, and to play that much you have to be an exceptional athlete. Odds are against you on that so I am basically saying let him play. Football is not "safe" but if you do it with care, you can make the risk acceptable and your kid can enjoy the game. Same as a car. Not safe, but do it with care and it can be safe enough.
