It's funny how when you see these truly AWFUL skits, it really makes you appreciate that ones that are done well. I recently came across some old Melvin Gregg skits (Manboy from Snowfall) and his shit was really good. Short, concise, and to the point but still managed to get the joke off with great acting all done on short form social media platforms.
I think that part of the problem now is that in addition to not being funny or talented (at acting, directing, or writing) these new guys are trying to tailor their content for the Youtube algorithm. Seems like all the videos are nearly 10 minutes long with ad breaks every 3 minutes or so. Can't be coincidence.
