Rihanna posts images of MLK with gold teeth and earrings

Yeah these images are all over the place and its disrespectful each time...xenophobes will say she is an islander and thats why she did it but those people are only exposing their own hatred...she did it because she as an individual is an ediot AND because she has been seeing tons of people doing it....shit, Black people on this very site have talked about Dr King like a dog....there is a poster on here who kept saying Martin Luther Coon day a few weeks ago and this individual was not banned

Who?

This.

She was born in Barbados and doesn’t identify herself as a “African American”....even though she carries herself as if she is a Black woman from America.

She enjoys the benefits of “Black”.

She is basically a “Culture Vulture”.

MLK has no meaning to her.

you do know blacks in american and the caribbean were all brought over on the same ships, from the same place, to the same slavery right?
We all have very similar cultures, kinda hard to call her a culture vulture IMO. (BTW she reps barbados often, so how is she carrying herself as American? By living there?) This whole ADOS movement is just a form of divide and conquer.
past that, however she is out of pocket for posting that image of MLK. I have no idea why someone of african decent would pull that stunt unless they are cooning.

Spoiled, entitled celebrity cunt.
She resents being told that she "can't" do something, so she decides to lash out by attempting to be controversial and piss off a group of people she feels will defend her because she got chastised by people who value their deity over a damn pop star.
Somebody should tell her to go post those gold fronts on Errol Walton Barrow and see what happens when she goes home.
She'll get her ass kicked over disrespecting The Dipper.

I get where you're coming from, but she's been in the spotlight for almost 20 years and doesn't really have a history of disrespecting icons this way.

So why now?

I've considered that she could be doing it for the cheap publicity, but she really doesn't need to do that.

If I remember correctly, it was Jes Mckenzie

He knows who as been. He's just another one of those trolls. I've pointed it out the person a few times in the past and even gave one of his co-trolls evidence. These assholes are like a disease and the ignore feature is like a temporary cure.

There’s at least 250-year political, cultural, and socioeconomic history separating Black Americans from the Caribbean.

She had to shut down her higher end of her Fenty x Savage line.
That pissed her off.
Then, Indian culture came at her over her wearing Ganesh.
Instead of her telling them that here in the states people wear crosses as fashion, too and that while she meant no disrespect, they should understand that its how it is in the U.S., she decides that she's going to strike at a wall somewhere to get her angst out. I'm guessing. I don't know. I don't really care enough to join twitter and check her page.
I've never been a fan of hers and I don't go ga-ga over her looks, so I'm not of the mindset to let her slide regardless of her reasons.
I'm in the "don't bring that shit over here!" crowd.

Dr. King is one of the reasons this disrespectful, melon-headed bitch is able to grind around on stage and sell her overpriced underwear to teen girls and sissies instead of getting sprayed with a damn water hose.
She needs to know her place and how she got where she is.
This overpaid yodeler is never gonna fuck you lames on here defending her. What do you think is gonna happen? She's gonna say "I saw that thread on BGOL where you defended me. Here, let me give you some head..."?
Seeking a bitch's approval that doesn't even know you exist says something about how the internet and celebrity cultism has twisted your minds.
MLK is a black American line that most of us don't cross because we understand why its important not to. There are boundaries. We need to bump the hand thread because some of you don't act like you are who you say you are.

The ABSOLUTELY BEST Tag on a person who claims to be a singer I've seen this entire thread.

I don't know. Plenty of musicians have failed clothing lines. They rarely lash out this way, especially when their core brand still thriving. Also, this is not the first time nor the worst time Rihanna has been criticized on social media.

Whether she meant to disrespect Indian culture or not she still should have known better. She's been around the world enough times to know that trivializing a culture's religious icons is going to cause a problem. At the very least the photographer should have said something.

All that said I'm not really a fan of hers either. I respect what she's accomplished but IMHO she's a pretty mediocre singer. However, these kinds of stunts seem completely out of character.

Yeah I know that.

And you know that a large majority of black folks born and raised in Central America, The Caribbean and South America don't associate themselves with Black folks in this country whose ancestry traces back to United States Slave plantations and whose ancestry started there, through Reconstruction, thru the Great Migration and thru the Civil Rights Movement.

American Blacks went thru the Shit in this country.

A lot of Black immigrants who immigrated to the US after the Civil Rights Bill and Voting Rights act was signed. Are now sponging off the blood, sweat and tears of those who fought for that.....and not showing respect for those people and coming here with their nose up in the air talking about they got what they got thru hard work, that is what piss' off folks associated with the ADOS movement in this country.

I don't really even think it was that deep for her. She's not a dumb chick but I have the feeling fashion ranks much higher than cultural awareness in her book. She probably just thought that it looked cool.
She has a huge entourage, so somebody should have said something. Or, maybe somebody did and she still said "fuck it, I'mma do what I want" and did it anyway? Who knows? :dunno:
The MLK shit - she knew better. Is it still on her page or did she take it down?

You got a good point.

Kind of like when Madonna started with that Kabbalah nonsense. When you have a bunch of people telling you that all your bad ideas are good you tend to go with them I guess.

Ri Ri isnt a Black woman, she a Bajan/Guyanese girl.

I'm prolly one of the few posters on this board that has actually brought Black American women AND West Indian women to meet the family, there is a difference.

Same can be said for Nicki Minaj with the Malcolm X cover and Rosa Parks line.

If I ask if Onika is ADOS, I know it will open up a whole other can of worms. I think she is from Trinidad but I'm not sure and don't want to go down that road. I think its more of an entitled celeb thing. Staying on topic...
Has Rhianna apologized or taken that banner down?

Nope! https://twitter.com/rihanna?s=21

And yes, Nicki is Trini. A lot of NY rappers are West Indian though.

Out of character?

You do not know a damn thing about Rihanna.

Nothing.

This is her character 100%

Do you think blacks from the caribbean didn't shed blood sweat and tears to get rights back home? IIt was all the same fight. Also, they live the american black experiance, and suffer the same hardships in that system, that is not sponging off you guys. you think the whites who ran shit here were nicer than the ones in the US? After emancipation the struggle was real. The big difference is that here blacks were a large majority, so when they finally got rights there was no more holding us down systematically (well for the most part, we were piss poor hence why many moved to the US and UK).

I'm not going to say attitudes were all sweet on this side, older carribean folks always wondered why american blacks couldn't get their shit together, after all they did in the caribbean, not realising that american blacks are an minority that had the system set up against them. But these days people understand.

All that shit is divide and conquer, I think we all need more understanding of each other, why? because globally blacks are held down we should all be building the race up for now together, save the infighting for later.

fixed that up for ya, to make more logical sense, we are all black

This actually 4 pages.

Man promoters in Atlanta use images of Martin to promote bullshit parties around in January......me personally find that a lil more disrespectful

No we not. We all are of African descent. Ri-Ri is a Bajan woman of African descent. Yall would rather call yourselves Black, a term that legally describes our people by law in our country than to say you of African descent. Aint no country in the Caribbean classifying its people as Black. Aint no country in Africa classifying its people as Black. That is a US term and concept that goes back to our Constitution.

If there are Black West Indians (which none call themselves that) that must mean there are White ones correct? You know there are just West Indians, no Black with that.

There’s an image of MLK I see posted every year for Black history month and it’s the photoshop pic of him flipping someone off. Then there is the other MLK pic of him with diamonds in his ear ear pods in his ear tattoos. Photoshoped with a crown and gaudy jewelry for club fliers etc

This shit been going on for a while. Who creates this photoshoped image?
Yeah, it's like an annual thing.

Agree.

But Blacks here in the states don’t relate to Blacks whose ancestry in slavery happened outside of the US borders.

The evidence of that was how the Black community in the US response was when Haiti had the Earthquake back in the 2010. Majority of Black folks, especially cats on this forum attitude was “It sucks to be them, we got our own problems”.

I don’t think it is a “Divide and Conquer” by Whites. It is mainly a disconnect of the communities.

Black folks on US soil are not United and it ain’t got shit to do with White folks. The blame is on the Black community.

We got to take care of our own before we can worry about folks outside the US.

This is a very good and accurate response unlike that shit you first dropped.

Fake outrage. Mad at Rihanna for a picture of MLK that was created by black people but were excusing her disrespect towards Genesha?

We could pull up many pictures created by our people that have Rosa Parks in Gucci, Malcom X and MLK with a taper line up, and pictures of all of them with henney and backwoods photoshoped in.

Even cartoon characters are remixed into stereotypes of black men and women, which again were all created by black people.

It's not Rihanna who's at fault, blame the folks who need to make everything into a meme including our black leaders.

I posted a BGOL member's disrespect of MLK and there was even a thread pointing out tye disrespectful shit. None of these fake e-militants addressed it.

Lol like I said its "fuck these cacs! Fuck these Indians!"

But on the front page it's "yall ever fuck an Indian or Asian chick?"

Wait hold on, we ain't on the same page...... Pussy is different.
It is not and I cannot get behind that bruh.

As a man I am more than my dick and as a black man not every phat ass walking gets my attention.

Bullshit aside black men need to clean up their image and that can't be done when a
Large portion of us lust after nonblack women. We need to stop validating these nonblacks with praises just because they have (fake) features present on black women.

This is also how many of black men get caught up, chasing what they deem exotic or foreign.

I can't move like that and I can't move in circles with men like that.
