We all have very similar cultures, kinda hard to call her a culture vulture IMO. (BTW she reps barbados often, so how is she carrying herself as American? By living there?) This whole ADOS movement is just a form of divide and conquer.

I get where you're coming from, but she's been in the spotlight for almost 20 years and doesn't really have a history of disrespecting icons this way.

I've considered that she could be doing it for the cheap publicity, but she really doesn't need to do that.

I've never been a fan of hers and I don't go ga-ga over her looks, so I'm not of the mindset to let her slide regardless of her reasons.

I don't know. Plenty of musicians have failed clothing lines. They rarely lash out this way, especially when their core brand still thriving. Also, this is not the first time nor the worst time Rihanna has been criticized on social media.
Whether she meant to disrespect Indian culture or not she still should have known better. She's been around the world enough times to know that trivializing a culture's religious icons is going to cause a problem. At the very least the photographer should have said something.
All that said I'm not really a fan of hers either. I respect what she's accomplished but IMHO she's a pretty mediocre singer. However, these kinds of stunts seem completely out of character.

And you know that a large majority of black folks born and raised in Central America, The Caribbean and South America don't associate themselves with Black folks in this country whose ancestry traces back to United States Slave plantations and whose ancestry started there, through Reconstruction, thru the Great Migration and thru the Civil Rights Movement.
American Blacks went thru the Shit in this country.
A lot of Black immigrants who immigrated to the US after the Civil Rights Bill and Voting Rights act was signed. Are now sponging off the blood, sweat and tears of those who fought for that.....and not showing respect for those people and coming here with their nose up in the air talking about they got what they got thru hard work, that is what piss' off folks associated with the ADOS movement in this country.

Do you think blacks from the caribbean didn't shed blood sweat and tears to get rights back home? IIt was all the same fight. Also, they live the american black experiance, and suffer the same hardships in that system, that is not sponging off you guys. you think the whites who ran shit here were nicer than the ones in the US? After emancipation the struggle was real. The big difference is that here blacks were a large majority, so when they finally got rights there was no more holding us down systematically (well for the most part, we were piss poor hence why many moved to the US and UK).
I'm not going to say attitudes were all sweet on this side, older carribean folks always wondered why american blacks couldn't get their shit together, after all they did in the caribbean, not realising that american blacks are an minority that had the system set up against them. But these days people understand.
All that shit is divide and conquer, I think we all need more understanding of each other, why? because globally blacks are held down we should all be building the race up for now together, save the infighting for later.

No we not. We all are of African descent. Ri-Ri is a Bajan woman of African descent. Yall would rather call yourselves Black, a term that legally describes our people by law in our country than to say you of African descent. Aint no country in the Caribbean classifying its people as Black. Aint no country in Africa classifying its people as Black. That is a US term and concept that goes back to our Constitution.

The evidence of that was how the Black community in the US response was when Haiti had the Earthquake back in the 2010. Majority of Black folks, especially cats on this forum attitude was “It sucks to be them, we got our own problems”.
