I learned the hard way about summer/winter/all season tires and chains/studs etc.
I worked hard for a whole summer in HS and bought a high mileage C class and thought I was balling.
Put that shit on low profiles and forged rims. You couldn't tell me shit.
Snow/Ice come and I am out there on wide, low profile summer tires wondering why my car is going down the street damn near sideways.

Without snow tires, an suv is useless in ice or major snow even with 4 wheel drive. Found out the hard way with a Land Rover Discovery.

There was a Tahoe on my street stuck today. It was rear wheel drive only.
For all you talking about 4 wheel drive, they did a test, a 4-wheel drive on summer tires, vs a 2 wheel drive on winter tires. I suspect most in Texas had summer tires which perform better in heat and rain (typical Texas weather). Also they look better with rims and you know how Texans feel about their rims.
All season tires with 4 wheel drive is much better, but they still suck at braking, you have to know what you’re doing on you’ll wipe out.
