Just like the TLC vs. Sheeran one if someone didn't completely break it down for me?
I would NEVER have heard the similarities
Blows me away that everyone is saying it's a ripThat's a hell of a stretch... Funds must be real light for Cece.
Yeah Cece was wrong about that part. It's an identical 7 note melodic sequence that determines plagiarism as far as anything having the number 7 has to do with it. It's not about song having over 7 seconds of something sounding similar. As that goes, the only part that was close to identical was the repeat of "yeah yeah" or "yah yah". But even there, there is no change in the melody. It's a repeat of the same note. How the fuck is this a lawsuit?
She didn't even use words. Just 4 notes and some nonsense syllables.
and no, she didn't use a 40 second clip. at most it was 10 seconds repeated twice. either way it's a moot point because CeCe's seven second claim is complete garbage. There is no minimum or maximum amount of time that you're allowed to copy. Every case is different depending on context.
on top of that the songs are 26 years apart in two completely different genres. if you're wondering why Lizzo didn't ask permission first it's probably because she either hadn't heard it or completely forgot about it.
This would be like the Beatles suing Rae Sremmurd for using a throwaway line from "Day Tripper".
No, I take that back. This is way dumber
no - its not a reach -Blows me away that everyone is saying it's a rip
This is a fucking REEEEEACH
dude...As that goes, the only part that was close to identical was the repeat of "yeah yeah" or "yah yah". But even there, there is no change in the melody. It's a repeat of the same note.
I disagree and absent a ruling this is your opinion presented as factno - its not a reach -
its a direct lift
plus the work already has sync money from the commercial?
Atlantic is already on the phone trying to fix this
Not the same melody thoughdude...
thats multiple notes (+7) in a melody....
Lizzo is singing over a different melody but the vocal run is theNot the same melody though
And the ad lib in question is comprised of 1- one of the most used words in the English fucking language and 2- another word that isn't even replicated.
Cadence is the only thing that cece remotely has going for her and that's flimsy
no bearing on veracity,What bearing does the song's placement have on the veracity of the plagiarism claim?
You're not wrong. Rhythm is an aspect of melody. So then that comes into play too.dude...

There is a section of that melody that is the same sequence of notes repeated. Where it lies in the respective phrases of their songs is different. Lizzo starts her phrase with a different set of notes...but as it progresses, melodically it's the same for like 6 notes (even though it's the same note repeated over and over, pitch wise) as Cece's phrase in her song (which begins with the notes in question). Not the same melody though

You mean Lizzo is singing over a different chord progression, which is true.Lizzo is singing over a different melody but the vocal run is the
same cadence same melody as Finally
no bearing on veracity,
the placment is a signifigant financial incentive for the owners of Finally's publishing
In other news, Black Box sues Lil Uzi Vert for the use of the chord F sharp minor.
If robin thicke can raked over the coals for doing a song that FEELS like a marvin gaye song then this case is stong for cece...
SETTLEMENT!

Apparently Cece confirmed Lizzo cut a big check.
