There's about 210 republican congresspeople and it's hard to know what the fuck all of them think. I think probably about a third of them believe all this dumb shit. Another large percentage are just flat out grifters. The third that believes the dumb shit is the white supremacist coalition. At best, 25% are rational people who just have opposing views to me but I doubt if it's even that much. I'm sure a lot of the Democrats are grifters too but there's no place for the crazies there.

The Impeachment managers may have just made a master move with this. Trump's lawyers can't just get up there and say all kinds of shit about his intentions or state of mind now. Normally, they couldn't anyway because that's something that only has value if he says it himself. But they could have claimed that since their was no investigation in the House he never had a chance to. Now that they invited him and he declined, all that kinda talk is out. I get that this isn't a criminal trial, but I would be surprised if this isn't what they lean on in these proceedings.
