Film director Joss Whedon is no longer making his return to television as planned this summer. Per The Hollywood Reporter, Whedon has left HBO’s upcoming sci-fi drama series, The Nevers. In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, a rep for HBO said, “We have parted ways with Joss Whedon. We remain excited about the future of The Nevers and look forward to its premiere in the summer of 2021.” Whedon is currently under investigation from Warner Bros. for alleged misconduct on the set of Justice League, where he replaced Zack Snyder as the director. Justice League actor Ray Fisher alleges Whedon engaged in “gross, abusive, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable” behavior while on set, and recently accused Whedon of digitally altering an actor’s skin color tone in post-production, which Whedon denies doing.

The Nevers was picked up by HBO for a straight to series order in July 2018, beating out other outlets including Netflix. The series is set to star Outlander’s Laura Connelly, who plays Amalia True, a “menace to Victorian” society leader of the group known as the Orphans that have “unusual abilities, relentless enemies and a mission that might change the world.” Whedon was supposed to write, direct, executive produce and serve as showrunner on The Nevers, which would have marked the director’s return to television after over a decade away since creating and executive produced Fox’s Dollhouse. Whedon issued a statement about his departure from the series:

“This year of unprecedented challenges has impacted my life and perspective in ways I could never have imagined, and while developing and producing The Nevers has been a joyful experience, I realize that the level of commitment required moving forward, combined with the physical challenges of making such a huge show during a global pandemic, is more than I can handle without the work beginning to suffer. I am genuinely exhausted, and am stepping back to martial my energy towards my own life, which is also at the brink of exciting change. I am deeply proud of the work we have done; I’m grateful to all my extraordinary cast and collaborators, and to HBO for the opportunity to shape yet another strange world. The Nevers is a true labor of love, but after two plus years of labor, love is about all I have to offer. It will never fade.”

Ray Fisher believes Joss Whedon’s exit from The Nevers is due to Justice League investigation

Earlier this week it was announced that HBO has “parted ways” with Joss Whedon on The Nevers, an upcoming sci-fi series he’s created and co-written with his Buffy The Vampire Slayer colleagues Jane Espenson and Doug Petrie, which would have marked his first foray into TV since 2009’s Dollhouse.
Whedon released a statement blaming exhaustion and the challenges of producing the show during the ongoing pandemic for his exit. However, Justice League star Ray Fisher – who has been hugely critical of Whedon for his alleged “gross, abusive, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable” behaviour during the reshoots on the DC blockbuster – isn’t buying that as the explanation.
“I have no intention of allowing Joss Whedon to use the old Hollywood tactic of ‘exiting’, ‘stepping down’, or ‘walking away’ to cover for his terrible behavior,” stated Fisher on Twitter. “WarnerMedia’s JL investigation has been in full swing for over 3 weeks now. This is undoubtedly a result of it. A>E.”

Fisher has been pushing WarnerMedia – the parent company of both Warner Bros. and HBO – to conduct a thorough investigation into his allegations against Whedon, and while it could be a simple case of coincidence, the timing of Whedon’s departure from The Nevers certainly seems to add weight to the above claim.

Joss Whedon has stepped down from his latest project, the upcoming HBO series The Nevers, effective immediately. Justice League actor Ray Fisher, however, is claiming a more sinister reason.
Whedon was writing, directing, and executive producing The Nevers. HBO describes the show as "an epic science fiction drama about a gang of Victorian women who find themselves with unusual abilities, relentless enemies, and a mission that might change the world." So it's about the Joss Whedon-est thing you could imagine. Despite Whedon's exit, HBO said through a spokesperson that the studio remains "excited about the future of The Nevers," and that it look forward to the summer 2021 premiere.
Why Whedon left the series is where things get interesting, though. Whedon himself cites exhaustion in an official statement on his departure. Actor Ray Fisher, whom Whedon directed in 2017's Justice League, says the departure is a direct result of WarnerMedia's investigation into misconduct during the filming of Justice League's original theatrical release.
"This year of unprecedented challenges has impacted my life and perspective in ways I could never have imagined, and while developing and producing the Nevers has been a joyful experience, I realize that the level of commitment required moving forward, combined with the physical challenges of making such a huge show during a global pandemic, is more than I can handle without the work beginning to suffer," Whedon said in a statement (via Variety). "I am genuinely exhausted and am stepping back to martial my energy towards my own life, which is also at the brink of exciting change. I am deeply proud of the work we have done; I’m grateful to all my extraordinary cast and collaborators, and to HBO for the opportunity to shape yet another strange world. The Nevers is a true labor of love, but after two plus years of labor, love is about all I have to offer. It will never fade."
Fisher tweeted out the following statement, following Whedon's:

Justice League might be the most drama-packed project to come out of Warner Bros. in decades. The film, originally directed by Zack Snyder, was set to be Warner Bros.' own Avengers film. During filming, Snyder suffered a loss in his family and stepped away from the film. Warner Bros. moved ahead with the film, allegedly with Snyder's blessing, with director Joss Whedon at the helm. This move felt like pure studio meddling at the time; Snyder's DC movies had suffered critically, and they weren't measuring up to Marvel's projects even if they were profitable. And so it looked like Warner Bros. took its opportunity to put the director of Marvel's Avengers in the captain's chair in hopes of saving it.
The movie failed critically and financially, leading fans of Snyder's work to cry foul, beginning a social media campaign to "release the Snyder cut." Cut to 2020, where Warner Bros. has greenlit a reported $70 million budget for Snyder to re-cut and reshoot Justice League into a four-part miniseries for HBO Max.
While the actors in the film have generally been supportive of Snyder's work on the film, Fisher has been his greatest cheerleader and has continually gone to bat to not just paint Snyder in a better light but to push back at anyone involved with the film that isn't Zack Snyder. Fisher accused Warner Bros. executives of racist behavior this fall, a move backed by Justice League co-star Jason Momoa. More directly, though, Fisher also directly called out Whedon, calling his treatment of the cast and crew "abusive, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable," while naming producers Jon Berg and DC executive Geoff Johns as his enablers. Fisher has reiterated and doubled-down on these accusations in later statements.

Justice League star Ray Fisher says he won't participate 'in any production' involving DC Films head

Fisher seemed to announce the end of his tenure as Cyborg.

It would appear that actor Ray Fisher's time as Cyborg for DC Films is coming to an end.
The Justice League star seemed to suggest he's stepping down from the role of the half-machine, half-human superhero in a new tweet about DC Films President Walter Hamada, who was the subject of a recent New York Times piece detailing future plans for Warner Bros. slate of DC Comics-inspired movies and shows.
Fisher previously alleged misconduct by executives at the studio, including Hamada, as well as director Joss Whedon amid the making of the 2017 blockbuster, prompting an investigation into the matter by parent company WarnerMedia. On Wednesday, Fisher tweeted, "Walter Hamada is the most dangerous kind of enabler. His lies, and WB PR’s failed Sept 4th hit-piece, sought to undermine the very real issues of the Justice League investigation. I will not participate in any production associated with him."

A rep for Warner Bros. declined to comment. A rep for Fisher did not immediately respond to EW's request for comment.

Fisher will appear in Zack Snyder's upcoming four-hour director's cut of Justice League that will be released on HBO Max. He was supposed to return for the upcoming Flash movie, directed by It's Andy Muschietti, but that seems like it now won't happen.
In an October interview with Forbes, Fisher spoke about his disappointment in Hamada regarding the WarnerMedia investigation into his claims. The actor had alleged Whedon exhibited "gross, abusive, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable" behavior during the making of Justice League, including an allegation that Whedon tried to digitally alter the skin tone of an actor of color in the movie. Whedon denied the claim through his rep. Fisher also claimed that then-DC Films President Geoff Johns and producer Jon Berg allowed the behavior to persist. Hamada took over as DC Films president in 2018 and did not oversee the production of Justice League.

“Walter Hamada chose to insert himself into this situation by trying to throw Joss Whedon and Jon Berg under the bus to protect Geoff Johns,” Fisher told Forbes. “He has a long-standing work relationship with Johns and an even longer one with Toby [Emmerich] from their time together at New Line.” (New Line is a subsidiary of Warner Bros.) “Emmerich made Hamada the president of DC Films and Johns is providing content for Hamada to produce. It stands to reason that he would have a vested interest in trying to protect both of them.”
A spokesperson for Warner Bros. did not comment on the Forbes interview, but the studio released a statement in July of this year that denied Fisher's claims about Hamada.
"In July, Ray Fisher's representatives asked DC Films President Walter Hamada to talk to Mr. Fisher about his concerns during the production of Justice League," the statement reads. "The two had previously spoken when Mr. Hamada asked him to reprise his role as Cyborg in Warner Bros.' upcoming Flash movie, together with other members of the Justice League. In their July conversation, Mr. Fisher recounted disagreements he'd had with the film's creative team regarding his portrayal of Cyborg, and complained that his suggested script revisions were not adopted. Mr. Hamada explained that creative differences are a normal part of the production process, and that a film's writer/director ultimately has to be in charge of these matters. Notably, Mr. Hamada also told Mr. Fisher that he would elevate his concerns to WarnerMedia so they could conduct an investigation."
"At no time did Mr. Hamada ever 'throw anyone under the bus,' as Mr. Fisher has falsely claimed, or render any judgments about the Justice League production, in which Mr. Hamada had no involvement, since filming occurred before Mr. Hamada was elevated to his current position," the statement continues. "While Mr. Fisher never alleged any actionable misconduct against him, WarnerMedia nonetheless initiated an investigation into the concerns he'd raised about his character's portrayal. Still not satisfied, Mr. Fisher insisted that WarnerMedia hire an independent third-party investigator. This investigator has attempted multiple times to meet with Mr. Fisher to discuss his concerns but, to date, Mr. Fisher has declined to speak to the investigator. Warner Bros. remains committed to accountability and to the well-being of every cast and crew member on each of its productions. It also remains committed to investigating any specific and credible allegation of misconduct, which thus far Mr. Fisher has failed to provide."
WarnerMedia released another statement on Dec. 11 that announced the conclusion of their investigation and that "remedial action" had been taken. No further specifics were revealed at the time, though Whedon departed his planned HBO series The Nevers, citing exhaustion and his personal wellbeing.

After weeks of speculation, Justice League star Ray Fisher has confirmed that Warner Bros. has removed him from the cast of The Flash, while opening up on his issues with DC Films boss Walter Hamada...

There's been another development in the ongoing war between Ray Fisher and Warner Bros. as the actor has confirmed that Warner Bros. has made the decision to remove him from the cast of The Flash.
The actor goes on to say that Cyborg's role in the movie was much more than just a cameo before once again taking aim at DC Films President Walter Hamada.
His statement makes for interesting reading - he goes so far as to accuse Geoff Johns of "blatant racism" - but once again fails to share any specifics about what went on during the filming of Justice League's reshoots. Fisher does, however, offer to take a polygraph test.
He also mentions that this is "the end of my time as Cyborg," so chances are he's now done with the role. This isn't surprising, and it was hard to imagine a scenario where Fisher would continue playing the character after saying he is no longer will to work on any project Hamada has overseen.
How Cyborg's absence from The Flash will be handled remains to be seen, and we don't know if Warner Bros. will recast the role.

#IStandWithRayFisher Trends After Cyborg Actor is Removed from Flash Movie
#IStandWithRayFisher is trending on Twitter after the actor announced that his character, Cyborg, had been removed from upcoming DCEU film The Flash.

BY GRAEME GUTTMANN2 HOURS AGO

#IStandWithRayFisher trends on Twitter after the actor announced that he has been removed from The Flash. Fisher began speaking out against DCEU studio Warner Bros. in 2020, particularly for Joss Whedon's treatment of him and others on the set of Justice League. He had also detailed behind-the-scenes racism and abusive treatment that led to him not wanting to be involved with the DCEU. Fisher has openly said that he will not play Cyborg as long as Walter Hamada is the DC Films president.

Fisher appeared briefly as Cyborg in 2016's Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice. He then went on to play a major role in 2017's Justice League. With the impending release of the Snyder Cut, Fisher will be in the spotlight again, as Cyborg is said to feature prominently in Snyder's version of the film. The future, however, is unclear for Fisher. His announcement that he has been removed from The Flash details Hamada's attempts at covering up his allegations.

The announcement also prompted #IStandWithRayFisher to trend on Twitter. DCEU fans and industry folks alike are coming out to support the actor for standing up against DC Films head Hamada. The hashtag began trending last night, shortly after Fisher posted his statement. It is still trending as of this writing, with over 50,000 tweets in support of the actor. Most of the tweets proclaim their support for Fisher and then go on to blast WB for their treatment of the actor, with many calling on the company to step in and do something.

Fisher's firing from The Flash seems to be an attempt to remove him from the situation. WB seeing Fisher as the problem and not people like Hamada is what leads to issues like this in the first place. Fisher alleges that Hamada did everything he could to protect his friend and DC Films co-president Geoff Johns in lieu of supporting his decision to speak out against the abuses he faced. Many cast members have come out in support of Fisher, but that does not seem to have swayed Hamada's decision.

Hamada just extended his deal with WB until 2023. What that means for Fisher is unclear. While the actor states that he will not be playing Cyborg in The Flash, there's no word on whether or not he has left the DCEU entirely. This is after he has said that he has not stepped down from the role, at least publicly. Fisher's role as Cyborg was an exciting addition to the DCEU, a chance to explore a hero that is not often thought of. His performance in Justice League was emotional and exciting and many were hoping he could continue that in The Flash. Fisher may not be in that film, but he certainly will leave an impact on the DCEU for the better.

Welp..... he can always work for the post office...

Or go the indie and off Broadway route.....

Cuz I doubt any studio wants the potential headache

Can someone give me a summary of what happened to him?
I keep seeing bits of this but I still dont know what exactly happened.

Justice League: Ray Fisher Will Promote Snyder Cut Despite WB Dispute
Despite his ongoing feud with Warner Bros., Ray Fisher fully intends to help promote Zack Snyder's Justice League when the time comes.

BY RACHEL LABONTE15 MINUTES AGO
Ray Fisher fully intends to promote Zack Snyder's Justice League despite his ongoing dispute with Warner Bros. Fisher is the DCEU's Victor Stone, aka Cyborg, having first stepped into the role for a cameo in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Last summer, following the announcement that the famed Snyder Cut will be released on HBO Max, Fisher accused reshoots director Joss Whedon of unprofessional and abusive behavior on the Justice League set. That only proved to be the tip of the iceberg, as Fisher has since included several DC Films execs and producers in his accusations of poor treatment.

Fisher's public statements against DC Films and Whedon led to an equally public fight with Warner Bros., as the studio has repeatedly attempted to downplay Fisher's claims. Nevertheless, Fisher continued to pursue a fair investigation, which was completed in early December and reportedly led to "remedial action." While Fisher appeared somewhat satisfied with the results, he has continued to accuse Geoff Johns and Walter Hamada, the DC Films president, of rude behavior and undermining the investigation, respectively. This has seemingly led to Fisher being written out of The Flash, which was supposed to include a role for Cyborg.

RELATED: Ray Fisher And WB's Justice League Investigation Explained

Fisher's current split from the DCEU won't stop him from supporting Snyder, however. On social media (via BeenTryin on Reddit), Fisher confirmed he intends to promote the upcoming Snyder Cut of Justice League, saying, "There's no way you can stop me from doing press for Zack Snyder's Justice League. There's no way." Without mentioning Warner Bros. by name, his insistence that people can't stop him seemed to relate to his ongoing fight with the studio. As for when promotion for Justice League will begin, Fisher had this to say:

What that all looks like, as far as the logistics and how those things get handled, I don't know that just yet. But I expect that there will be some significant promotion in some way. I can't imagine a movie that has been as highly-anticipated as this, not going whatever distance they can to promote. Unless there's something else going on behind the scenes.

Regardless of his issues with Warner Bros., Fisher has always been a vocal supporter of Snyder's Justice League. It's been said that Snyder's original plan for the film had a much bigger and clearer arc for Cyborg, and Fisher has stated he wants to see it through. It is understandable that he would like to promote the Snyder Cut's release, though it's unclear if WB has any hand in deciding who gets to be included. However, it could be unfair of the studio to keep Fisher out of it, particularly since he was one of the Snyder Cut's earliest supporters.

Fisher has stated he won't appear in any DC film that Hamada produces, so for the time being, fans shouldn't expect to see him in anything beyond Justice League. It's a disappointing situation, since there was definitely more of Cyborg to be explored. Still, Fisher has shown his determination in getting justice for what happened during the reshoots, and that's very admirable. Where his DC future will go from here remains to be seen, but at least he and his fans have Justice League to look forward to.

The Nevers teaser trailer: First look at HBO fantasy series created by Joss Whedon

HBO's next fantasy series has a teaser trailer. Below is your first look at The Nevers, a Victorian-era fantasy series created by Joss Whedon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer).

The story follows a group of "touched" people, mostly women, who have manifested powerful abilities — "some charming, some very disturbing."
More from the official description: "Among them are Amalia True (Laura Donnelly), a mysterious, quick-fisted widow, and Penance Adair (Ann Skelly), a brilliant young inventor. They are the champions of this new underclass, making a home for the Touched, while fighting the forces of… well, pretty much all the forces – to make room for those whom history as we know it has no place."

Whedon created the series, which was set to mark The Avengers director's return to television. But Whedon was announced as stepping down from the project in November and HBO tapped Philippa Goslett as the production's new showrunner and executive producer.
The Nevers was also originally commissioned for 10 episodes. Filming was interrupted by the coronavirus pandemic, then resumed last fall and wrapped in October. HBO now says only six episodes will premiere on HBO and HBO Max in April and that Goslett is working on an unspecified number of future episodes to be released at a later date.

The sprawling ensemble cast also includes Olivia Williams, James Norton, Tom Riley, Rochelle Neil, Eleanor Tomlinson, Amy Manson, Pip Torrens, Denis O'Hare, Zackary Momoh, Elizabeth Berrington, Kiran Sawar, Anna Devlin, Viola Prettejohn, Ella Smith, Nick Frost, and Ben Chaplin.

Whedon wrote in a statement after his departure: "This year of unprecedented challenges has impacted my life and perspective in ways I could never have imagined, and while developing and producing The Nevers has been a joyful experience, I realize that the level of commitment required moving forward, combined with the physical challenges of making such a huge show during a global pandemic, is more than I can handle without the work beginning to suffer," "I am genuinely exhausted, and am stepping back to martial my energy towards my own life, which is also at the brink of exciting change. I am deeply proud of the work we have done; I'm grateful to all my extraordinary cast and collaborators, and to HBO for the opportunity to shape yet another strange world. The Nevers is a true labor of love, but after two-plus years of labor, love is about all I have to offer. It will never fade."

‘Buffy’ Actress Charisma Carpenter Says Joss Whedon Was Abusive And Harassing On Set: “Joss Was The Vampire”

Former Buffy the Vampire and Angel star Charisma Carpenter accused those shows’ creator, Joss Whedon, of abusive and and harassing behavior on set. The actress says the incidents “triggered a chronic physical condition from which I still suffer.”

Carpenter claims the Buffy creator called her “fat” when she was 4 months pregnant, threatened to fire her and pitted people against each other for his approval.

One specific instance she cites is when, in a closed-door meeting after learning of her pregnancy, Carpenter says Whedon “asked me if I was ‘going to keep it.’” The actress says Whedon “proceeded to attack my character, mock my religious beliefs, accuse me of sabotaging the show, and the unceremoniously fired me the following season once I gave birth.”

After that meeting, Carpenter says she “felt powerless and alone” but, with a baby on the way, also felt she had no other option so she “swallowed the mistreatment and carried on.” That lack of empowerment, she claims, sucked the joy out of being a new mother. “And Joss was the vampire,” she says.

Carpenter says she was prompted by Justice League actor Ray Fisher’s allegations against Whedon, who directed that film.

Fisher has been at odds with Warner Bros. since last July, accusing Joss Whedon of abuse during the post-Zack Snyder reshoots of Justice League. A subsequent Warner Bros. investigation said unspecified “remedial action” was taken, and the investigation was concluded. No other details were revealed. Fisher was also dismissed from the studio’s upcoming Flash film.

Carpenter revealed in her Instagram post on Wednesday that she participated in the Warners investigation. Saying she believed Fisher and that his dismissal from The Flash was “the last straw for me.”

Deadline reached out to WarnerMedia and reps for Whedon but has not heard back.

UPDATE: WarnerMedia has come out swinging in response to the social media post that Ray Fisher wrote on his exit from The Flash and allegations against DC Entertainment President Walter Hamada and his predecessor Geoff Johns. “As has been previously stated, an extensive investigation was conducted by an outside law firm, led by a former federal judge who has assured WarnerMedia that there were no impediments to the investigation,” a spokesperson said. “Last summer, Mr. Fisher was offered the opportunity to reprise his role as Cyborg in The Flash. Given his statement that he will not participate in any film associated with Mr. Hamada, our production is now moving on. Warner Bros. remains in business with Geoff Johns who continues to produce Stargirl, Batwoman, Doom Patrol, Superman & Lois, and Titans for the studio, among other projects.

Studio also sent this statement from Ann Sarnoff, Chair and CEO, WarnerMedia Studios and Networks Group: “I believe in Walter Hamada and that he did not impede or interfere in the investigation. Furthermore, I have full confidence in the investigation’s process and findings. Walter is a well-respected leader, known by his colleagues, peers, and me as a man of great character and integrity. As I said in Walter’s recent deal extension announcement, I’m excited about where he’s taking DC Films and look forward to working with him and the rest of the team to build out the DC Multiverse.”
EARLIER, 8:24 pm PST: Ray Fisher is continuing his battle against WarnerMedia, sending out a Twitter manifesto on his recent dismissal from the upcoming Flash film.
The Justice League actor said he “strongly disagreed with their decision,” but said it was “unsurprising.” He again took issue with DC Films President Walter Hamada, claiming he undermined investigations into Fisher’s complaints about executive conduct on the Justice League set.
Fisher has been at-odds with Warner Bros. since last July, accusing Joss Whedon of abuse during the post-Zack Snyder reshoots of Justice League. A subsequent Warner Bros. investigation said unspecified “remedial action” was taken, and the investigation was concluded. No other details were revealed.
HBO Max will premiere the Zach Snyder director’s cut of Justice League featuring Fisher in 2021.

Sarah Michelle Gellar and Michelle Trachtenberg have reacted to the new misconduct allegations made against "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" creator Joss Whedon.

The actresses released statements on social media putting distance between themselves and the embattled director/producer/writer.

"While I am proud to have my name associated with Buffy Summers, I don’t want to be forever associated with the name Joss Whedon," Gellar, 43, wrote via Instagram on Wednesday. "I am more focused on raising my family and surviving a pandemic currently so I will not be making any further statements. At this time, but I stand with all survivors of abuse and I’m proud of them for speaking out."

Trachtenberg wrote on Instagram, "Thank you @sarahmgellar for saying this. I am brave enough now as a 35-year-old woman....To repost this. Because. This must. Be known. As a teenager. With his not appropriate behavior....very. Not. Appropriate."

'ANGEL' ACTRESS CHARISMA CARPENTER ACCUSES JOSS WHEDON OF MISCONDUCT, ATTACKING HER 'WOMANHOOD AND FAITH'
Earlier on Wednesday, "Buffy" and "Angel" actress Charisma Carpenter spoke out against Whedon, 56, and alleged he behaved unprofessionally on-set.

Carpenter, 50, took to Twitter to share a lengthy note detailing her negative experience with Whedon on "Buffy" and "Angel" with the hashtag "#IStandWithRayFisher" referencing the "Justice League" star who claimed back in June that Whedon's on-set treatment of the cast and crew members was "gross, abusive, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable."

"For nearly two decades, I have held my tongue and even made excuses for certain events that traumatized me to this day," the actress began her two-page note. "Joss Whedon abused his power on numerous occasions while working together on sets of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel. While he found his misconduct amusing, it only served to intensify my performance anxiety, disempower me, and alienate me from my peers. The disturbing incidents triggered a chronic physical condition from which I still suffer. It is with a beating, heavy heart that I say I coped in isolation and, at times, destructively."
'JUSTICE LEAGUE' STAR RAY FISHER CLAIMS DIRECTOR JOSS WHEDON WAS 'ABUSIVE, UNPROFESSIONAL' ON SET
The star explained she felt empowered to come out with her story following Fisher’s drama with the film and TV maker, noting that she recognized his pattern of "casually cruel" behavior and fostering of "toxic work environments."

She accused the director of berating her over a rosary tattoo she got to "feel more spiritually grounded" as well as offhandedly threatening to fire her several times and calling her "fat" when she was four months pregnant and weighed 126 lbs.
Representatives for Whedon had no comment when reached by Fox News.

The star concluded her note by standing in solidarity with Fisher, whose whistleblowing efforts on "Justice League" led to WarnerMedia conducting a third-party investigation about Fisher’s claims. Carpenter noted that she participated in that investigation.

"Recently, I participated In Warner Media’s Justice League investigation because I believe Ray to be a person of integrity who is telling the truth. His firing as Cyborg in The Flash was the last straw for me. Although I am not shocked, I am deeply pained by it. It troubles and saddens me that in 2021 professionals STILL have to choose between whistleblowing in the workplace and job security," she said.

Michelle Trachtenberg: Joss Whedon couldn’t be alone with me on ‘Buffy’ set
By Rob Bailey-Millado
February 12, 2021 | 8:20am | Updated

Michelle Trachtenberg elaborated Thursday on bombshell claims earlier this week that her “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” boss engaged in abusive behavior on his “toxic” set.

The actress made the cryptic new allegations against show creator Joss Whedon, 56, in an updated Instagram post: “The last. Comment I will make on this. Was. There was a rule. Saying. He’s not allowed in a room alone with Michelle again,” the 35-year-old wrote.

Trachtenberg was 15 when she assumed the role of Dawn Summers, the younger sister of Sarah Michelle Gellar’s “Buffy,” which she played from 2000 to 2003. She didn’t go into explicit detail about what led to the alleged rule — or who put it in place.

Trachtenberg’s allegations against “The Avengers” director come after Charisma Carpenter, who played Cordelia Chase on “Buffy,” posted claims of Whedon’s alleged “toxic” and “hostile” behavior onset. She also claimed he called her “fat” in a one-on-one meeting when she was pregnant.
“Joss Whedon abused his power on numerous occasions while working on the sets of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel,” Carpenter, 50, wrote. “While he found his misconduct amusing, it only served to intensify my performance anxiety, disempower me, and alienate me from my peers. The disturbing incidents triggered a chronic physical condition from which I still suffer. It is with a beating, heavy heart that I say I coped in isolation and, at times, destructively.”

Trachtenberg, who also appeared on the CW’s “Gossip Girl,” first came forward after Gellar, 43, responded to Carpenter’s viral post in a statement on Instagram siding with “survivors of abuse.”

“While I am proud to have my name associated with Buffy Summers, I don’t want to be forever associated with the name Joss Whedon,” Gellar posted. “… I stand with all survivors of abuse and am proud of them for speaking out.”

Trachtenberg first responded to Gellar on Wednesday, writing: “Thank you @sarahmgellar for saying this. I am brave enough now as a 35 year old woman … To repost this. Because. This must. Be known. As a teenager. With his not appropriate behavior … very. Not. Appropriate.”

Reps for Whedon — who “parted ways” with HBO’s “The Nevers” in November — have not responded to The Post’s requests for comment.

The industry wunderkind weathered his first wave of negative press and soured social media buzz after his ex-wife, architect Kai Cole, accused him of cheating in a scathing online essay in 2017.

Cole accused the director of “multiple affairs” over their 15-year marriage — and claimed that the first of those alleged dalliances was on the set of “Buffy.”

“He hid multiple affairs and a number of inappropriate emotional ones that he had with his actresses, co-workers, fans and friends, while he stayed married to me,” Cole wrote.

“He deceived me for 15 years so he could have everything he wanted. I believed, everyone believed, that he was one of the good guys, committed to fighting for women’s rights, committed to our marriage, and to the women he worked with.”

A thriving Whedon fan site shut down after 15 years amid Cole’s alarming claims, including her statement that “I now see how he used his relationship with me as a shield, both during and after our marriage, so no one would question his relationships with other women or scrutinize his writing as anything other than feminist.”

Whedon and Cole met in 1991 and married in 1995, a year before production began on “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” a seminal TV show centered on a strong female hero that has often been hailed as a defining feminist series.

Eliza Dushku backs ‘powerful’ abuse claims against ‘Buffy’ boss Joss Whedon

Charisma Carpenter has another high-profile co-star in her corner.

“Bring It On” star Eliza Dushku is the latest “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” alum to voice her support for Carpenter, 50, who alleged on Wednesday that “Buffy” creator, Joss Whedon, 56, “abused his power” and fostered an “increasingly volatile work environment.”

“CC, my heart aches for you and I’m so sorry you have held this for so long,” Dushku, who is no stranger to workplace harassment battles, wrote on Instagram. “Your post was powerful, painful, and painted a picture we’ll collectively never un-see or un-know.”

Dushku played rogue vampire slayer Faith opposite Carpenter’s Cordelia Chase on both “Buffy” and its spinoff, “Angel.” She joins an increasing list of “Buffy” vets — including Sarah Michelle Gellar, Michelle Trachtenberg, Amber Benson and Emma Caulfield — to voice support on social media, telling Carpenter: “I admire, respect, and love you.”

The 40-year-old “Tru Calling” and “Dollhouse” actress has previously experienced toxic workplaces. In 2018, Dushku alleged that “True Lies” stunt coordinator Joel Kramer sexually abused her when she was 12 years old.

Then came the bombshell report that same year revealing Dushku was secretly paid $9.5 million by CBS in 2018 for claims she was retaliated against and written off “Bull” after complaining about alleged sexual harassment by lead Michael Weatherly on set.

“I frequently think of the saying, ‘we are as sick as our secrets,'” Dushku continued in her post. “Our secrets indeed make and keep us sick. What I’m learning more and more — and have personally found most valuable — is that profound healing can only come from naming and disclosing what actually happened, the necessary first step (once someone’s ready) to freeing ourselves from our secrets, untold truths which have kept us isolated, ashamed, and held hostage.”

Carpenter cited Ray Fisher’s unceremonious firing as Cyborg from the forthcoming “The Flash” flick as the catalyst for her coming out against Whedon. The “Justice League” actor had accused his director of being “gross, abusive, unprofessional and completely unacceptable” to him and others on the set of the Warner Bros. superhero film. The 33-year-old actor retweeted Carpenter’s emotional post and called her “one of the bravest people I know.”

Carpenter and Fisher’s claims add to Trachtenberg’s allegations of “not appropriate behavior” by Whedon toward the then-teenager on the set of “Buffy,” and that “there was a rule saying he’s not allowed in a room alone” with her again.

Reps for Whedon — who “parted ways” with HBO’s “The Nevers” in November — have not responded to The Post’s requests for comment.

WandaVision star Emma Caulfield, who played Anya Jenkins in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, has joined her former cast members in supporting Charisma Carpenter's statement about show creator Joss Whedon's toxic on-set behavior.

On Instagram, Caulfield posted an image of co-star Sarah Michelle Gellar's statement against Whedon, writing "In the wise words of my friend @sarahmgellar." Gellar wrote that, while she was proud to have played Buffy, she did not want to be affiliated with Whedon's name. "But I stand with all survivors of abuse and am proud of them for speaking out," she added.

Carpenter recently released an extended social media post detailing how Whedon abused her on the set of both Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel in support of actor Ray Fisher's racism allegations toward the director after he took over filmmaking duties from Zack Snyder on Justice League. This notably included refusing calls from her agent in response to Carpenter's pregnancy, accusing her of getting pregnant to ruin Angel and forcing her to work at 1 a.m. despite her doctor recommending shorter work hours. Carpenter also revealed that she volunteered to participate in WarnerMedia's Justice League investigation because she believed Fisher's claim that Whedon demonstrated unprofessional behavior toward the DC film's cast. Her statements have since been backed up by fellow Buffy co-stars Amber Benson and Michelle Trachtenberg, who played Tara Maclay and Dawn Summers respectively.

Caulfield joined Buffy in Season 3 as Anya "Anyanka" Jenkins, a vengeance demon who grants Cordelia Chase's wish that Buffy Summers never came to Sunnydale, resulting in a dystopian timeline where the town is ruled by vampires. After the wish was broken, Anya was stripped of her powers and forced to live among Sunnydale's residents, becoming a member of the Scooby gang and eventually forming a romance with Xander Harris. She was later upgraded to a main cast member on the show in Season 5.

Currently, Caulfield stars as Dottie Jones on WandaVision, a mysterious "queen bee" socialite who oversees Westview's community events and gatherings.

Joss Whedon Scrubbed From The Nevers Marketing as Buffy Cast Speaks Out
HBO confirmed Joss Whedon won't be featured in marketing for The Nevers as more Buffy the Vampire Slayer cast members allege his abusive behavior.

HBO confirmed Joss Whedon won't be featured in the marketing for The Nevers.

The news comes on the heels of Charisma Carpenter alleging Whedon engaged in abusive behavior towards her on the sets of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel. "When I read Charisma Carpenter's accounts, it was distressing," HBO and HBO Max Chief Content Officer Casey Bloys told THR.

Whedon created The Nevers and served as showrunner before stepping down in November 2020, citing his physical exhaustion from making the series in the midst of the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. "On The Nevers, he's left the show. You've seen his statement," Bloys noted. He went on to say Carpenter's allegation "hasn't really affected" the series' promotional campaign, pointing out that The Nevers' teaser trailer didn't mention Whedon. "Yes, you would expect to have that name [in marketing materials] but the show and the creative is going to speak for itself. A marketing campaign can only do so much; the show and the creative have to stand on its own."

Other Buffy cast members have lent their support to Carpenter, with Amber Benson writing, "Buffy was a toxic environment and it starts at the top. [Carpenter] is speaking truth and I support her 100%." Sarah Michelle Gellar also voiced her support for Carpenter, writing, "While I am proud to have my name associated with Buffy Summers, I don't want to be forever associated with the name Joss Whedon." Michelle Trachtenberg later thanked Gellar for her post before alleging Whedon behaved inappropriately towards her on the Buffy set.

Whedon has recently faced other allegations of misconduct and abuse on his film and television productions, beginning with claims from Justice League actor Ray Fisher which led to an investigation by WarnerMedia. The investigation concluded in December 2020, with WarnerMedia saying " remedial action has been taken." Fisher said he believed Whedon's departure from The Nevers was related to the investigation, adding, "I have no intention of allowing Joss Whedon to use the old Hollywood tactic of 'exiting', 'stepping down', or 'walking away' to cover for his terrible behavior."

Created by Joss Whedon, The Nevers stars Laura Donnelly, Olivia Williams, James Norton, Tom Riley, Ann Skelly, Ben Chaplin, Pip Torrens, Zackary Momoh, Amy Manson, Nick Frost, Rochelle Neil, Eleanor Tomlinson and Denis O’Hare. The series premieres April 11 on HBO.
