Both of my sisters have been listening for a minute. The first thing both of them said was he reminds them of Pops, not his mannerisms but the shit he says. Here's my take. The vast majority of the women I know who are overachievers are ready for marriage but THEIR version of marriage versus what the men I know who are open to marriage.
The fact is we've all been conditioned when it comes to our views. Sometimes our views can evolve over time based on what we see and learn along the way. That said there are men who are predisposed to marriage. They had the benefit of Mom and Dad being in the house. They watched their parents argue, fight, whatever but remain focused on the children. In their mind, marriage is hard as fuck (because of what they saw) but believe its worth the risk. Simply put it's doable. Combine that with the "conditioned" desire of having a children in a two parent home and you're looking at possibly the number one driver for marriage. Those without the benefit fall into the category of a) if it feels right I might try it and b) ain't no way I'm doing that shit.
Women? You have to remember that most of them do NOT have the benefit of watching Mom and Dad work through it. Those that do (the few) are like the men noted above. They are predisposed to marriage. They have a better grasp of the kind of sacrifice (keyword KS mentions all the time) they're going to have to make and endure in order to succeed or get to where they want to be. However, that leaves a LOT of women who aren't and frankly successful women have been spoon fed (by other women) the idea that the more they achieve the more desirable they are and the more demanding they CAN be.
I tend to lean on my deceased mother's logic to my sister. She said, "It doesn't matter how smart or successful you become because TIMES has changed. Women can do what they want and be what they want but you have to remember one thing; while times have changed the prerequisites for a WIFE HAVE NOT." Now you're talking about a woman who was married until death. Where all the women in the family marry until death. Where all the women have raised successful children and the children have done the same. I say that not to brag but to point out that there's a formula to this shit that will increase your odds of success.
That is what I don't see today. Black women on average simply don't have the foundation. They have to figure it out as they go which leads them to meet and marry for the wrong reasons. To avoid the right men. The list goes on and on.....I'm sure I'm not the only one who sees this shit.
