Gerrymandering happens at the local level but not in statewide races like the governorship and US senate seats.
That's all won or lost by popular vote.
As far as voter suppression goes. One big way to help fight that is to dot your i's and cross your t's.
It's not really bad in comparison to other hardcore red states. The gerrymandering is ass, but the new districting allowed us to flip two seats.
From what I am seeing from NC is that our metropolitan counties are still voting democratic under 70%.
Mecklenburg County (Charlotte area) voted 67% democratic.
Wake County Raleigh area) voted 62.5% democratic.
Guilford County (Greensboro area) voted 61%democratic.
Forsyth County (Winston Salem area) voted 56% democratic.
Cumberland County (Fayetville area) voted 57% democratic.
In order for NC to flip, we need high democratic turnouts in these counties. Wake County voting 62% dem is very surprising. @cli-terminator

If the USHR drafted a bill first, why didn't the Senate take up that legislation and propose their amendments or adjustments? To me (admittedly ignorant of the rules and customs of the US congress) that seems like the rational starting point for negotiations. Why would the Senate start from scratch with a separate bill containing provisions they know the Dems in the House won't agree to. Could it be just to make it look like they're doing something, but really having no intentions of accomplishing a meaningful compromise? Another reason she may not have been interested is because anything mBitch negotiates can be trumped by the big orange dummy. The Speaker leads her party, but the Senate Majority Leader does not because there is a higher ranking elected Repub, tRump. They've struck deals, and voted to approve legislation before only to have their prez say its a no go for him.
