I keep seeing the statement “Trump didn’t bring division, Obama did. Trump was elected to fix it.” Can someone explain what division Obama created? And how Trump fixed it?
That one’s easy: Barack Obama created racial strife by failing to know his place as a black man in White America, and by daring to ascend to the Office of the President of the United States.

Unfortunately, Trump’s supporters like to try and justify his conduct by claiming that Obama created the division, and Trump was trying to make America great (or, as we’ve so often observed, ‘White’) again. The reality is that Trump is an expression of the racist divide in the United States. He wasn’t fixing it: he was personifying it.
Obama’s sole failure with respects to race relations was simply daring to stand in high office as a black man. I’m truly glad to see Kamala Harris today elected to the office of the Vice Presidency, because it proves that Obama wasn’t a one-hit wonder: he was the beginning of a trend, not an anomaly.
It’s about time Americans started to treat non-whites the same way that white men believe they themselves deserve to be treated. The US isn’t a nation for kings, any one man above the other.
