Yes. This is a huge problem in our state. And it’s the 40 and under crowd. My generation.
There is not convincing them otherwise either. Many have given up on the process. They rather watch from the sidelines and point out what everyone ain’t doing instead of actually doing something about it. Classic victim mentality.
A real live convo with a young cousin on Facebook today...
cousin original FB post...Y'all really trying to guilt people into voting
me...If you truly believe that then what do you expect to change?
cousin...There are ways to improve the things around you that don't necessarily relate to government.
me...so what are those ways to improve things around you without government? I'm just trying to understand
cousin...community service and social activism
me...can you give examples of social activism that don't involve government?
cousin...to an extent, the two will cross paths but that don't necessarily mean I believe in it. Of course you go though some leaders to get your point across but that don't mean you believe in the system that appoints them.
me...I understand and I also know that some leaders may not hold your best interest. So how are YOU holding them accountable? If not them, then who best represent your interest? If nobody, are you willing to run?
cousin...by going to meeting and making my voice heard. not sure if anyone fully represents my interest and I'm not educated or dedicated enough to run
