{~~~Guns, Guns and Mo' Guns - The Right To Keep And Bear Arms~~~}

@woodchuck we might have to get some of this

You know this round is beyond snappy but will fuck up anything you hit with it. Even the item description talks about how deep it will go through flesh & bone

I enjoy shooting my XDM 10mm but the shell casings be flying out disrespectingly at times  I haven't shot with .40 or .45 yet. I considered getting a Smith & Wesson SP40e at 1 point earlier this week just to have a .40 pistol but held off. As far as ammo, I've been successful with getting 10mm rounds. Just this week I was able to score 150 rounds of FMJs.
The key word I read in all this is ammo. Where y’all copping from? I need 9mm and 12 gauge. I am getting a little nervous that we are out of ammo across the country and folks are talking about a civil war and I am woefully low.

I'm getting mine mostly from local stores. Online may have more options but unless you're buying bulk, I feel like I don't save much buying online cuz of the shipping costs.

The key is not to hesitate when you find ammo available.

Be prepared to have your wallet raped. The price gouging going down right now is beyond crazy. Boxes of 50 9mm FMJs going for well over $30 now. I refuse to pay anything over $25 and even that is high. Fortunately I started stocking up prior to COVID prices jumping the shark

Yeah but also gotta know what prices were before COVID craziness took over cuz these prices are beyond crazy now. I've yet to pay anything over $25 for 9mm or 10mm when buying in a store. Now I'm seeing online prices of like $35+. Some of these vendors even have the audacity to overcharge for bullshit ammo like Wolf & TulAmmo :smh:

That's today's reality. I have a local shop that I buy from, which charges $20 for a box of 50 (1 per person). All my buys are add ons and range time buys because I have good stash of different caliber ammo.

Same here. Only ammo I use from my stash is my 10mm ammo cuz I have an easier time restocking that from local stores. The only way any of the local stores are letting you buy 9mm ammo right now is if you buy a gun. I just settle for using 9mm ammo from the range whenever I go since I get discounts for being a member at the range.

With prices the way they are now, would I be able to build a top notch AR for say $800?
Definitely. The AR pistol I put together in the pic above only cost me just over $500 and today I picked up Sig Romeo 5 red dot for $150. Only thing left is an angled foregrip which I can get for like $40 if not less and that's not even necessary.

I see it, that's a nice piece. I want a 12-14" with a great trigger. I want something better than the Ruger MPR for comparison (since I almost bought one yesterday).

My Ruger AR556 came with a decent trigger but I did some polishing to make it better. Lot of options regarding triggers...drop-in assemblies makes it easy to configure. I run Velocity (3-4lb), Fostech Echo trigger and Franklin Armory's Binary trigger (AR and AK). What's your budget?

Been finding Federal ammo for $28.

My suggestions are going to based on what you are looking to spend, and the intended use. In all reality the Ruger MPR is a decent rifle (or pistol) out the box. If the trigger is the weak point, you can easily opt for a drop in trigger (Timney, CMC, or Elftmann). I can't think of a factory rifle (even rifles north of $2K) that I wouldn't swap the trigger for something better.

With that said, I try to steer folks in the direction of building your own rifle/pistol. For a couple of reasons... 1st and foremost you control all of the components installed in your build. I have boxes of shit that I've taken off of factory rifles. The 2nd being, one becomes familiar with how their rifle functions when you see how it's assembled and the inner workings.

Sounds like your saying that I can still build a better rifle than the MPR for less than the cost of the MPR correct?
So what parts do I spend the $$ on; Trigger an Barrel?
An the rest I guess isn't much of a difference from brand to brand?

Picked up a Sig Romeo 5 today for $150. All that's left is the angled foregrip and maybe some flipdown iron sights for cowitnessing. Otherwise, I can start working on setting up the storage space in my trunk for her

The issue right now is everything is sold out. Considering the current state of the union. I would buy the Ruger, buy a drop in trigger, and go to work. If you can wait until things settle down (who knows when that will be). I would build a 12" pistol. Aero Precision M4E1 complete lower receiver, Rise Armament drop in trigger, and a 12" BCA complete 5.56 upper. You should be able to build a better rifle for less than or close to that of the Ruger.

Keep in mind, prices are skyrocketing. During Pre-Covid days, I built a few solid budget rifles for $400 - $500 easily (not counting optics, mags, or extras)...

If it's free shipping then cool otherwise it'll come up to like $30+ each. Still expensive but compared to some of these other COVID prices I've been seeing, that's not as egregious
It is high, but like you said, it's much better than other prices. I trained my wife and our son on their .40 cals, so they ate up a few bullets during the training.

Since it's easier for me to get 10mm ammo right now, I'm either using that or just using range 9mm ammo to train with my recent purchases
