I've often thought about attending Carnival at Salvador Bahia, which I'm told no life is complete without having experienced, but otherwise Brazil holds no attraction for me. Four thousand a month?! That's a lot of money for an expat life if that's what he's pushing. Shit, I can name ten places you can live a decent lifestyle for ONE thousand a month, and still be immersed in pretty girls, good rum, good food, good music and pristine beaches. And then there's the language issue. Who TF knows how to speak Portuguese outside of Brazilians, Angolans and the Portuguese? I'm not going through the hell of learning a language that is useful in so few places. Brazil still has a pretty fucked up reputation for street crime and violence. Not sure how deserved that is; haven't been there. Shit, ... compared to Colombia, what does Brazil offer me that warrants all the extra bullshit one must contend with? And Colombia does it for 1/3 the price, along with a shorter, cheaper plane ride. Winner = Cartagena! Still wanna see Carnival in Salvador some day though.

Nope, only Belize, Guatemala, Toronto (caribana) and da Big EZ. My wife did T & T carnival years ago and still raves about it. She swears it's the best on earth even though she's never been to Brazil either so how the fuck she knows beats me. But the way her eyes light up when she talks about it, it must be pretty grand. I tried to book a trip last year and the AirBNB rates were unbelievable during Carnival. I mean jaw dropping nuts! I dropped the idea.Have you been to Carnival in Trindad?

The current scene is Keith Rowley cancelled next years T & T Carnival last month. Trinidad is gonna really feel that sting BAD. That's like where half their annual tourism money is generated.I've been back in the '80s and wooweee...freaking my ass off. Don't know the current scene though :-(

Bruh, Brazil has 40 million African descended people that live there AND speak Portuguese.I've often thought about attending Carnival at Salvador, Bahia, which I'm told no life is complete without having experienced, but otherwise Brazil holds no attraction for me.
