I can admit how things are sometimes presented is divisive. I used divisive language in this thread with you. If I were saying this as public policy, I'd use more careful wording to get my message across about ADOS movement and the relationship to black immigrants. Presentation is everything. I'm bullshitting in the barbershop.
I often make the point about Obama and white privilege. He may say that shit behind closed doors, but never used that term out in public while campaigning or in office. And it worked. He was able to bring up systemic racism WITHOUT alienating whites. ADOS movement can function without publicly saying things that can alienate black immigrant as allies. At the same time, we should expect black immigrants not to prop up the political system and undercut the efforts.
Again, we in the barbershop here, so it's rough around the edges. The movement needs polished spokespeople who understand politics and that perception matters. See how I just listened to you when you said 'I wouldn't call that riding coattails'? I didn't tell you what to feel. I take you at your word. Benefit is a word I think we both can agree on.
