The condition you describe is endemic to man ...not just black people. The system of European hegemony and white supremacy of the last say 500 years speaks specifically to some of the things you're talking about... particularly the skin bleaching thing.
But the concepts of your other observations aren't exclusive to black people...
Ghettos were designed for Jews... poor Italian and Irish Immigrants behaved in exactly the materialistic style over substance manner and do you think they were ratting out the criminal elements among themselves?
If you're not anti-abortion but hate planned Parenthood then create your own organization that caters to the needs of your community.
If you have issues with your people worshipping a diety that looks like our oppressor then show them an alternative example that works thru you (warning...this how cults and jackleg preachers happen because people are willing to believe in anything that presents as positive and therefore are easily manipulated)
As far as the jackass and elephant is concerned...one party is patronizing while the other doesn't want your vote and is openly trying to suppress it if they get their way. So your choice is between the lesser of two evils...
If an individual Republican has shown support for black people then he'll get the vote...if a Democrat has shown to be bad by comparison he won't... black people have historically voted this way
You're right that there is a mental captivity issue for black Americans but that can only be broken when we take control of our lives and communities. Asking for reparations isn't going to do that.
As much as this is going to rub a few BGOLers the wrong way, I agree, reparations will not change or improve the mental condition of our people. This is not to say that they are not owed. Indeed they are....plus some. But, the fact is, our troubles are multi-faceted. Economic, mental, and spiritual.
Your comment regarding poor Jewish, Irish, and Italian immigrants is partially correct. The idea of opulence is inherent in man. Throughout history, gold and other shiny things were coveted by the rich and poor alike. However, as you stated, they were immigrants, and as immigrants, their access to the "American Dream," was protected in a manner far different than black people. You can hide being a Jew, Irish, or Italian...not so much with black folk. As much as the WASP despised the Jew, Irish, or Italian immigrant, killing one of them, raping one of them, stealing from one of them, etc was not tolerated as it was the black man. Look up the lynching of Leo Frank which lead to the establishment of the ADL and B'nai B'rith International. We tried this with the black panters and we all know the result.....co-intel pro and the creation of SWAT among other things.

I will not make a blanket statement and say all black voters vote democratic blindly, but the majority does. This is supported by data.
However, let's not get lost with a back and forth regarding historical facts that most of us agree on. I believe most people in this thread are for the cause, though methodologies differ. Actionable ideas should be the next step. I do my part by educating black children about economics, financial freedom, local politics, and encouraging the pursuit of STEM careers. This is in addition to my role as a black healthcare provider. If everyone does a little, we can continue to make strides slowly, but surely.
